Max Allan Collins knows a thing or three about writing private dicks. Yes, he wrote Batman for a while. Yeah, he wrote Dick Tracy for a while. Yeah, he wrote Ms. Tree for a while. And now he's writing top shelf pulp with MIKE HAMMER. He's a veteran at this kind of story-slinging, so you can relax. Read Full Review

    Nerdly - Dean Fuller Jul 2, 2018

A great start to the new series, with Max Allan Collins deciding to not reinvent the wheel and just go with all the classic story beats and noir imagery he can muster. It's entertaining stuff. The slick art and muted colours, by Marcelo Salaza and Marcio Freire, are the perfect complement to the script, evoking a classic retro feel. Loved the panel composition and pacing too, excellent. To paraphrase Mickey Spillane, if the first issue sells all the rest, then I'm definitely around for the duration. Read Full Review

Multiversity Comics - Alan Buxbaum Jul 2, 2018

This is a great comic for art-fanatics and most noir-lovers; while the issue promises a series that stays true to this genre, fans may even think it a bit much for a medium like comics. Read Full Review

    Comicosity - Nick Hanover Jun 27, 2018

It ultimately feels like everyone involved except for legendary cover artist Robert McGinnis lacked the know-how to make Hammers modern debut meaningful, particularly when you factor in the bullet-riddled interior book design and Tom Williams uninspired, hacky lettering. Read Full Review

For Me Mike Hammer is Stacy Keach. It's a criminal story, sometime dark but with some sort of Humor in balance.
So I was very disappointed by this story. I didn't like seen Hammer kill this easily without hesitating. And I understand this was for avenging a friend, but I think it would have be great seen Hammer & his friend before he die. And what happen at the memorial service. I find that too quick to be convinced. And the second part of the story isn't good too.

Cover - It's a very nice picture & well in link to what i expect in a Hammer story. 2/2
Writing - It wasn't enjoyable. It was even hard to follow not because it's not clear enough. But because it's boring ! 1/3
Arts - The arts isn't very good too. Too p more
