    Not having experienced Robert Bloch's re-imagined Jack the Ripper saga in its numerous other incarnations, I can only grade IDW's adaptation of Yours Truly, Jack the Ripper on its own merits as a comic. The concept of an immortal, bloodthirsty Ripper sounds intriguing on paper, but the book doesn't do much to distinguish itself so far. Ripper is portrayed as little more than a bad Dracula clone at this early stage. The protagonists are fairly interesting, but most not terribly well defined. The script is also a bit too jumpy for its own good, suffering in particular from poor or even nonexistent scene transitions. The art shows potential but doesn't necessarily make good on it. Figures are rendered in too cartoonish a fashion to suit the tone of the story. I did enjoy Kevin Colden's color choices, with blue washes sporadically punctuated by bold red elements.
