Overall, this book is a great read. The humor, the storytelling, and character development is very solid. While this issue still continues with the American Wasteland run. This issue feels like a great stand-alone issue, and this issue is my favorite issue of the entire run because it give Maria her story and shows why she is the badass she is. Archer and Armstrong #24 could have easily been a "zero issue" origin story for Mary-Maria, but I really liked having it placed in the main run. It was a nice pause in the overarching narrative that has been running full-steam since the series' onset. It also harkens back to the days when you can pick up a single issue of a comic and get a complete story. The story was solid, action packed, and new reader friendly, even if the series' title characters were missing. I hope we can get more straight character pieces like this in the future. Archer & Armstrong is one of my favorite books on the shelf now. It's a comic that isn't afraid to be fun and does so without sacrificing story or character. It's big and bold with far out ideas that would only really work in a comic, but at its core, it's about the characters"what they want, what gets in their way, and what they do to escape their pasts"and that core truth is what grounds the comic and allows it to be fun and bombastic. While this issue in particular doesn't exactly wow in terms of story, it was still fun to read. Recommended. Read Full Review
Whilst the rest of the Valiant Universe is tied up in the Armour Hunters crossover and Archer and Armstrong are off on high-jinks with Quantum and Woody, this issue continues to show why the main book is so highly thought of with both fans and critics, great art and an engaging story make this issue a must read. ARCHER & ARMSTRONG #23 provides a solid story, even in the absence of its two titular characters. While this issue is, in a sense, filler until issue #25, it's a memorable story that adds a lot to the Valiant Universe. In the past, I've said (with ARMOR HUNTERS) that "this is how events are done." I now say "this is how filler issues are done." Don't take "filler" as a negative thing though because this raises the bar to unheard of heights when it comes to books getting from story 1 to story 2. Hopefully, we'll see more of Bollers in the future because he easily filled Van Lente's shoes. I highly recommend this issue. Read Full Review
#24 had its fun and extremely informative moments, but I found myself a bit bored towards the end and even more turned off with the odd dialogue. I highly doubt this will be a trending thing with this title as Archer & Armstrong has been such a strong book for so long. Read Full Review

A good stand alone story to quell some of the hype before the big 25th issue. Bollers makes Mary-Maria a much more interesting character and I hope this much needed character development is used in future issues. With Henry's and Baron's strong art and the emotionally charged story, Archer and Armstrong fans have a good issue to hold them over till next month. Read Full Review
