The case study of America through the eyes of such beasts and legends and how they all intertwine makes even the slower issues worthwhile. Part of me wants to tell you guys to wait until the run is done to read this, because a marathon of this story is a perfect way to read it, but I would also highly recommend experiencing this story now. At one point in issue #9, a monologuing ne'er do well catches himself and snarks "But enough history." That statement can be applied to American Vampire's current arc in full, as Scott Snyder's script continues to swell with excessive back-story and unseen links. Read Full Review
Add in a little touch of humor throughout "American Vampire: Second Cycle" #9 (the "Goodbye, Felicia" moment made me laugh out loud) and this is a solid, enjoyable comic. I feel like it's trying to whet my appetite but, fortunately, it's for the next issue and not human blood. I'll be sad to see "American Vampire: Second Cycle" eventually come to a close but, with the glimpses of modern-day Las Vegas at the start of this issue, it's coming with a bang, both figuratively and literally.
