Bought the ComicPro variant just to get an advance look and was pleasantly surprised. It starts a bit slow, but picks up fast. The way it ended got me hooked. Can't wait to learn more about our main character!
At the tender age of seven, Alexander Oberman witnessed the gruesome deaths of his parents in a horrendous explosion as a result of his own mind tapping into a previously unknown powerful force. How Alex survived has been a mystery. Physically he was fine, minus a few burns, but mentally he withdrew into himself, into his mind. For 16 years, Alex h...

Still my favorite new title of 2017. Heathen & Seven To Eternity are keeping me well fed :)
Things haven't quite gone as Aydis planned. She's been kidnapped. By the goddess Freya. And she's trapped in the impenetrable stronghold of the Valkyries. Escape seems impossible. It's hard enough just resisting Freya's spell. Roles now reversed, Brynhild plans a rescue, with help from Saga and a very old friend.
I'm picky about my comics, only pulling Saga, Monstress, Seven to Eternity, and Lazarus... and now Heathen. With all due respect to God Country fans, this is my vote for best new book of 2017.
The viking warrior Aydis crosses hellfire to reach the Valkyrie Brynhild, only to discover that was the easy part. Actually setting Brynhild free from Odin's curse is a whole other story. Meanwhile her talking horse Saga confronts the mystical wolves who will end the world.
As Emmett Quinlan attempts to rebuild his family and his home after the devastating tornado that broke them, something otherworldly screams through the sky under a banner of WAR. The GODS have come to Texas-- and they do not intend to leave it empty handed...
I'm pretty picky reader (I have only gotten hooked on Saga, Scott Snyder's Batman, Monstress, Seven to Eternity, and Lazarus over the past few years), so praise doesn't come easily... but this one earned it. Great characters, great art, and a great start to this title.
Will it hook me in for the long haul? We'll see, but I'm hooked for now. Throw in a low print run and things could get more
Aydis is a viking, a warrior, an outcast, and a self-proclaimed heathen. Aydis is friend to the talking horse Saga, rescuer of the immortal Valkyrie Brynhild, and battler of demons and fantastic monsters. Aydis is a woman. Born into a time of warfare, suffering, and subjugation of women, she is on a mission to end the oppressive reign of the god-ki...
