I expected the worst from Midnight X-Men, but it turned out to be the one of the three Midnight #1s I enjoyed the most. Storywise, we're already knee deep into the intrigue and mystery. Surprisingly, it all feels quite character-driven, which doesn't happen often in a Hickman book.
The art is very realistic and fits the vibe of a horror soap opera.

My only complaint is the one I ha ve about the Midnight books in general: why another universe? Why not try to make the original X-Men, FF, and Spider-Man great again, since all of them currently suck. Seriously, this book may be perfectly written and drawn, but in the end it's just a "what if" story.

So, I will definitely read the next few issues, because the story looks interesting enough, but I will never care about Vampire Queen Storm or Bishop Wagner like I do about the Ororo Munroe and Kurt Wagner of the 616 Marvel universe.more

I wasn't sure how I would like it because art like this is usually a turn off for me. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually liked the art. The book does what any good alternate universe story should do, feels different enough to make it worth reading while also retaining just enough of the core elements to make fans happy. Will definitely be continuing.

Kev Walker's art is perfect for this book. Very promising start, my biggest hope is that they go all the way with the cosmic horror.

A solid and intriguing intro to a thriller story that takes some bold swings. Practically from page 1 you are shown that this is not a twist on a traditional F4 story, its another story entirely for these characters. I won't give anything away, but this portrait of Reed is one that feels both familiar but also harrowing. Theres some fun blending of science and philosophy.

The art is fan tatsic(heh). Im a fan of Kev Walker and have bee for a while, think he's underrated. Hes not the mother detailed, the most grandiose, the most beautiful but what he is is wildly consistent and has an ability to instantly transport you into the worlds that he renders. He knows where to place the camera; where to insert more details, where to exaggerate and when to pull back. Im hoping this gives him a bigger spotlight.

Worth a read, interested to see where things go.more

It's almost a near perfect conclusion.

For those who may be confused, this isn't the end of the story. It doesn't just end on this massive cliffhanger. However, I will say it is a curious creative choice to finish the story in a series of pseudo-oneshots, but Jenkins has been absolutely killing it so far that I'm completely willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he's doing. On its own though, this issue was ano ther solid piece of what has been an absolutely incredible story so far. Very much looking forward to the climax of this tale.more

If you read this title prior to Siege this wouldnt be a bad ending. Fortunately there is a one shot that wraps this up. Knowing who Sentry is and re reading this I will say what a badass ending. This series was pure gold. Jae lee was just incredible and the whole gimmick Marvel pulled on making this a real life conspiracy as well was pretty crazy. Pure Gold.

This book resonated a lot with me. I felt understandood in a weird way. As far as superman ripoff or copycats exist the sentry is by far my favourite one. Thank you Paul Jenkins.
