I had completely scrapped this series, hated it so much to the degree that I didn't even read it for free, just like most DC series. But I said why not? Let's take a look.
A good start, we finally have a Batman book where the main character is Batman and not a bunch of random villains. It has been a good change of writer for the moment, we will see what he does later. And if things improve, maybe I will buy this series again.

Willuamson had to do some house cleaning for Tynion with this opening issue. I'm crossing my fingers that he dumps Tynions chatacters fast. What I'd love to see is Alfred back and Wayne's money returned. But I always love when Wayne and Luthor match wits.
He's going to have to go to great lengths to clean up the mess, at least his villain looks much more interesting than the ones Tynion insists on presenting. I am glad that people are receiving this in a pleasant way. I don't want to get too excited about it as we know DC's reluctance to bring out Batman, put Tim Fox on the mantle in Gotham, or do a battle for the cowl.
So far DC has blinked fenix. They're moving Tim Fox to New York away from Gotham. I have read that Williamson s plan is not to keep Batman out of Gotham for too long. It's too early to tell anything of course but Williamson so far is saying the right things.
Unless Tamaki has a huge rise in quality the only in continuity batbook I ll be buying is this one. It ll be the first time I'm buying in continuity batman since King crapped all over the book. Tynion just plain hates the character.
I will see how it progresses, I think I will wait for the next number to invest here.
