Thank you very much for the review, objective people like you save me a lot of money, especially now that I am completing my Bersek Delux
Did this series crack the top 50 last month? Nope, so that makes what the 5th month in a row this series is falling flat? This series needs to be mothballed and the real Superman needs to have multiple series running again. 4 books, 1 issue a week.
Jonathan Kent has faced many challenges in his life as both Superman and a Super Son, but what will the first son of the Last Son of Krypton do in the face of...metahuman bombs? Jon faces a deadly decision and Lex Luthor's alliance with President Bendix deepens in this penultimate chapter of The Rising Saga!
As the mysterious serial killer's motivation becomes more and more clear-as the entire city of New York finds itself divided over the repercussions of his actions-Jace begins to question more and more whether his role as Batman is helping to inspire good...or pure evil.
Truth is, hardly anything matters in comics. Every now and then publishers reset continuities either because they became convoluted, messy and often self contradictory, or sales dropped alongside readers' interest. DC'a last big official reboot was Flashpoint, which sadly opened a new universe of grimness, boredom, poor writing, edginess and straight up butchery of beloved characters (Lobo, Harleymore
The world of Flashpoint returns! After sacrificing everything to help the Flash put the universe back together and save Bruce Wayne's life, Thomas Wayne wakes up in a world he thought was no more. Forced to don the cowl once again, Batman prowls the streets of Gotham searching for answers to how this world still exists, but what he starts to uncove...
Dark Crisis is completely 5G, they insist something is not working, but for the first time I think there is a little bit of light at the end of some series like Detective Comics, White Knight, and I just got Batman/Superman this issue was nice. I don't trust in Chip either, he's not a bad writer but I'm very disappointed in BUL, so I don't expect much from him.
@Nihilist - it's refreshing to read your take on this comic. and i agree with you on so many points that you've made! ... i feel that liking your review is not nearly enough!! this review deserves a damn award!!!

This comic is fan fiction garbage. Bendis and Taylor completely ruined Jon Kent.

ok let's review this book like a mature person.
first thing with the "They're trapped" part in the beginning
don't know you john but i swear i can see some windows there that people could've Rescued themselves by using them instead of Having an argument with you. Of Taylor wants to create a conflict with stakes he at least has to put some effort in it.
second wth is wrong with art, more

From high above the sweltering summer streets of Gotham, Batman planned to escort the GCPD as the dangerous metahuman super-villain known as E.M.P. was transferred from a holding cell to his permanent home at Blackgate Prison. E.M.P.’s electrical powers posed a threat, but the situation was in hand-until it wasn’t. Now every light in Gotham is ...
With the power out across Gotham, Batman must haul the not-particularly-cooperative villain responsible, E.M.P., across miles of chaotic city streets, filled with terrified people and opportunistic criminals! Blackgate Prison can nullify E.M.P.'s destructive electrical powers, if Batman can survive long enough to get them there-but what happens if ...
For a children's delivery it's fine, however the characterization that has been made of Talia and especially Ra's does not convince me at all, I feel very out of place and there are many things I could say about this story that they would not do so predictable of what comes next, I thought it would go better since it opens a whole arc which I think I will pass since it is not bad, however it is more
"When Deathstroke assassinates Ra's al Ghul, Talia al Ghul demands revenge and sends her League of Shadows to kill Deathstroke and Deathstroke Inc.! Batman and Robin must team up to track down Deathstroke and bring him to justice...but do they? Expect over-the-top fights, action, mystery, and betrayal as this crossover event creates a major impact ...
Another thing that seems out of focus to me is to put Ra's as someone nice, when he is a homicidal egomaniac with weak excuses for his cause, I understand that the objective is greater empathy towards Damian and Ra's but it feels false.
And finally it would have been more interesting than Slade if he had killed Ra's, for whatever reason you like, a contract or something. But this insistence on making the villains good or boring ends up making the hero weak and boring.
Worst characterization of Bruce I've read in a while, imagine blaming Damian for Alfred's death while you were on a honeymoon. Garbage.

No more sewers. 24 issues of Detective Comics later, Mariko Tamaki gets The Batman back out of the sewers, where she has had him for so long. What a "great" achievement (slow handclap), and there is the return of some form of "Batcave"... with waterfalls? But Mariko is "historic." And so are some of the past 24 Tec pratfall story lines. Bringing us to this epilogue as "epic finale" of "Shadow ofmore

Tamaki has struggled writing Tec very eary on. Her ideas fall flat and she has a lot of trouble voicing make characters but particularly Batman. I think it's time to let Rosenberg go solo on this book.
All the criticisms from other users are spot-on… just like the first 500 parts of this storyline. Good riddance.
And what the hell happened to Psycho-Pirate? Am I dense? Batman confronted Hayden but their convo was mostly off-panel. Does he even still have the mask or does Tamaki’s wife???

Tamaki can't write Batman irs that easy. She has trouble voicing male characters anyway but she has no handle on batman at all. And she runs out 8f steam very early in every run. I blame DC editorial to a degree but how manes should Tamaki get?
I have had great doubts with this series due to the writer, I doubted that it would be good, I refused to sign up for the series, much less to do the double purchase (digital and physical) that I used to do with some issues of DC, however this number I I really liked it to the degree that yep, it will be the only DC comic series I subscribe to this year, as long as the quality is maintained.

The way Jason confronts Batman with hard truths and still tells him what Bruce really means to him, just ouch. This was something that I hoped Zdarsky would write that would give it depth and take canon and read it and not cleanse himself of it just to say that Jason is an indiscriminate killer and mostly out of the blue.
Rosenberg and I have had a difference because of this, however the man is doing well and I give him credit. more
Secret-origin issue, baby! Task Force Z #5 was quite the disaster for Bane and Jason, huh? Psycho Pirate is a Crisis-level villain by DC’s own design. In this series, he goes from “worlds will never be the same” to “let me create a diversion for drug dealers.” Stupid. Mad Hatter would’ve fit the plot way better. That’s what an editor would say but DC doesn’t really care anymore.
Tamaki, you’re lucky to be working on ‘Tec. A lot of readers are dropping the more
It’s Nightwing versus Psycho-Pirate in the grand finale of “Shadows of the Bat” act two of three! I agree they lose Batman they lose it all. It comes down to getting good stories written...the art is fine...but DC publishing seems to be more concerned with activism than great stories. Word is that DC will fold and license its IP out to other publishers and right now I think that unless Discovery has an answer to the awful editorial and writing at DC then licensing is the best thing for its characters.
If DC wants to avoid Marvel's style then why do they keep hiring their writers?
Great art, but a story that is all this happens and then this happens. Unfortunately nothing happens organically.
Batman wins because it is his book. We don’t see him develop his plan and we don’t get any clues. We are just told, not shown that Batman and his League of Ethnic stereotypes were on the ball and saw through Luthor’s plan. apparently they didn’t work with Batman but more

I had enjoyed this arc, but this ending just felt rushed and incomplete.

Richard's time as the batman wasn't him being an imposter Taylor you obnoxious idiot, unlike the new Jace fox, Richard john grayson actually earned the title not once but twice after the knightfall and after bruce had died. also why the freak Richard is acting like a goofball. if 3 heroes are dead and one of them is a former Titan he should be a lot more serious about it.

How is killing someone in a hit and run and using your dads power and money earning the Batman title? The guy just found a Batman costume and determined he's Batman. The series is plain just bad, and jace is no more Batman then I am.
Sorry and using your dads money and power to cover it up and make it look like the man's own fault. Jace is not Batman, Bruce Wayne is Batman, and the only true Batman.
Incredibly, it wasn't that bad until Dick decided to treat Jon like a moron. Dude you can't treat a young man who is already exploring his sexuality in such a childish way, it's not Damian. Such a forced interaction.
The art is really good.

In my opinion, this was a desperate attempt to attract readers to this series, we all know that after number 5 sales began to drop. The writer can deny it all he wants, but the exit from the top 50 is a fact.
It's a solid delivery, even though we're still mulling over who are allies and enemies, its goal is still unclear.
Heads? Everyone gets eaten by a zombie. Tails? Aw, who am I kidding…everyone’s going to get eaten by a zombie. It’s always a trick question when Two-Face is involved…and Harvey Dent’s role in this whole zombie Suicide Squad thing (zombicide? Is this a Zombicide Zquad?) is a whole lot weirder than you think it is. Or maybe not, I don’t k...
I think it was the best number of the series, I hope the series maintains the level, or improves it.
It's fun to see Knayzev/Beast back after Tom Kings mishandling of him. He's a character that has the potential to be as powerful an antagonist to Batman as Bane.
I get my numbers on what is available to the general public (I've included a link) I didn't see the series in Amazon's top 100 sellers either. So I don't know what you're basing your viewpoint on. For what it is worth every time I've walked into the LCS there are at least 5 shelf copies of the series unsold. https://icv2.com/articles/markets/view/51096/top-50-comics-april-2022
Taylor was pushing the Amazon top 100 a couple of months back. The reality is the book is selling poorly other than gimmuck issues which spike for that month. Same as you noted the LCS I go to the book is not selling. Now to be fair the only DC books that are selling well are the batman books.
