This issue is sound and fury signifying nothing. Again, it's all exposition. The handicaps Batman faces are explained, but we don't actually see how they affect his fighting. We don't see how he overcomes it.

The plan by St. Simon Says is a false flag operation. But we knew that. Batman explains it to the commissioner and she says "I need proof, McGonicle." Batman says I'll get right on more

Lol...that review was a tour de force Quinn. More lazy "meh" level writing from Tynion a guy that should never have been given creative direction over anything to do with Batman. He leaves in 4 issues and dumps a mess on the fans as his parting gift. Fear State is not an "event" it's a sleep aid.

Quinn - Sep 22, 2021

Meh is exactly right. I get no sense of characterization or personality. Things are just happening. Also, what exactly is the crime? Simon Says hates Batman, so this whole thing is just to take down Bats? That is it? Scarecrow wants to scare people so we can evolve? Then what? I mean whatever. Or I could be wrong.

Oh jesus! we are caught in an endless loop with this. It is too boring, it seems to me that wanting to throw Batman into the world when the reality is that the character in comics has lost strength and continues to lose it with boring stories one after another, it is simply like stabbing the character to the heart.

The "mask" that Jace Fox really wears has nothing to do with Batman. The "mask" that Jace Fox wears is one of pretending to be an honest and sincere person, who is an unpunished killer. Great observations Bats. We ve gone over the various reason why Ridleys character isn't going over. The sales speak for themselves..with every Tim Fox book (including trades) the first few issues do well them they drop out of the too 50. By contrast every other bat bat centric book remains in the top 50. As we ve discussed Tim Fox is a poorly conceived character who's stories and mission are not appealing to the audience that buys the bat books. That may change with better writing and art.

Mingthemerciless - Sep 18, 2021

But as of right now Tim Fox appears to be "Batman" by DC edict alone. The fans arent buying it.

I've heard that Sam Hamm had a different vision for the Batman '89 movie and that he couldn't get through with it because of all the people that were working on the movie then. Well I say to those people "congrats, you've done a great job". If this guy were to go all the way with it those movies wouldn't have got the cult following they did. Tim Burton was at the top of his game then. Michael Keaton surprised everyone with how he delivered the role. Gotham looked and felt like a city out of time and created a great mood. Nicholson's energy. AND Jack Palance. It's clear the talent bringing the story to the screen added what Hamm lacked. I'm hoping the series lifts as I'm not reading current continuity or anything FutureFear State so this is my Batman fix but Hamm seems to going into one-note territory already.

Merlyn - Sep 16, 2021

Yeah, I'm grateful for all of those people because if Hamm would have had his way I doubt this movie would have had any real success. And it was a milestone in the Batman movie territory so yeah, thank God for Burton and everyone else who kept him in check.

More of the same from Tynion, which is just basically a rehash of previous Batman stories done in the past. In this it's Knightfall. Batman is replaced by a more violent version that kills and hears voices.

Batman has to, through shear force of will, fight off the attack that was meant to cripple him. In Knightfall, it was his back, here it's Scarecrow's mental games. You may say that's more

No question DCseems adrift right now. All the reboots don5 help either. Snyders Death Metal was essentially the latest one and honestly it was bloated mess to me and has created more problems than it was meant to solve. Then add the abandoned 5G which was rejiggered into Futre State and even got DiDio fired. So you've got a reboot in a reboot as DC heads towards a watered down version of Future State. Itself mostly poorly received by the fans.

Mingthemerciless - Sep 8, 2021

DCs money woes are well known and guys like Bendis and Ridley haven't been delivering. Batman has been top ten with Tynion but it almost sells itself. If I was at DC I'd be scouting IDW Boom Dark Horse Dynamite..anyone that can come to the table with some vision and fun writing. Something is not right at DC agreed.

Again, an issue where nothing really happens. It begins with Facist Dum-Dum Dugan lookalike holding a gun on two video characters with clown colors. The evil corporation has gotten the drop on the Tynion anarhcist group. His third such group he's introduced into Batman mythos, if I am not mistaken. (If I am, forgive me). Facist Dum-Dum blathers on and we actually see him shoot one of the prisoners more

I think DC actually thinks it can permanently replace Bruce Wayne with Tim Fox and expects to keep its readership on Batman. This isn't like knightfall or battle for the cowl where you knew Bruce would be back. This is a "eat it kids.. Tim's Batman now" move. If it happens I wont even but non continuity books with Bruce until DC abandons this idiocy. I have a feeling I wont be in the minority either.

Bruce IS Batman.

I absolutely love this website. At the time I review this, the rating is 1.0 with 4 out of 4 reviews. And it's well deserved! This was such a mockery from Bendis, he doesn't even try, the dialogue is just awfully bad, he only cares about Naomi and he jumps from panel to panel like a disoriented old man suffering from some mental illness. The second story is just as bad. I urge people to keep ratin more

Batman Jones - Aug 4, 2021

Thanks for your understanding. I would just ask that you not use it as a slur, ever. Nobody would ever insult someone by saying they have cancer or are a paraplegic, and each disease is as real as the other. I appreciate your understanding though and we’re cool.

And I’ve been just as guilty, calling people “retarded” or mentally ill when they weren’t. Live and learn. Progress is always a good thing.

Another boring issue from Tynion, I feel like fanfic would be better at this point. At least in fanfic most people use the characters from Gotham that people know and love, not the Unsanity Collective (still an idiotic name, btw) and Ghost-Maker, who is the lite and boring version of Red Hood. The whole issue is pretty bad with Molly escaping ridiculously from situations Batman would have trouble more

Hey so, Merlyn's review is stupid, and here's why:

First he complains about Jon Kent not using the classic Superman phrase. Even though it shouldn't bother a human being as much as it bothers him, there's a good reason beyond just L E F T I S M. Jon Kent is trying to be a different Superman, one focused on creating a better future, hence the new phrasing. Second, he complains about the more

Superman: Son of Kal-El #1

By: Tom Taylor, John Timms
Released: Jul 28, 2021

Jonathan Kent has experienced a lot in his young life. He’s traveled the galaxies with his Kryptonian grandfather and lived in the future with the Legion of Super-Heroes, who were intent on training him for the day his father, Clark Kent, could no longer be Superman. There is a hole in the Legion’s history that prevents Jon from knowing exactly...

Just as it's within his rights to criticize these comics however he wants to (I kind of disagree with this wording - we're on an internet forum and therefore subject to moderation. This is a private platform, not a public one - I get what you mean), it is within my rights to use my platform at my own discretion.

@Mingthemerciless Hey so, in light of the IPCC climate report, I just want to stress that continued dismissal of anthropogenic climate change will end in deadly consequences, almost assuredly now.

If there was no name on the cover I still would have known who wrote this. All the cliches are there, there is not an original bone in Tom Taylor's body. The refuse to use the classic catchphrase "Truth, Justice and the American Way" because in his leftist mind America sucks, the tireless complaining about climate change (that's not why those fires are happening in California btw, you have to be v more

There wasn't much to the character at the time Bendis showed up. An ok Super Sons book is about all. If they deaged Jon tomorrow, it doesn't mean anything would be better.

What I'm saying is this is what we have now and the writers are going to have to deal with. It's now beyond just blaming bendis.
