This issue had my attention and made me forget I was riding on the subway. First off the previous issue I felt that the art was off but in this issue the art is so on point and looks wonderful, cool, and emotional. Possibly one of the best looking recent issues. Robbie Rodriguez style and lines for Gwen and the rest of the characters look fabulous and the coloring from Lauren Affe really was spectacular meshing well with Rodriguez's style greatly. My only negative I have for with the coloring was the artist didn't color in the blue lines on Spider-Woman's/Spider-Gwen's costume. It could've been a mistake forgetting to color those parts in or that fact majority of the other Spider heroes have white line instead of blue which Gwen has thus causing the error to happen (thus losing a good point from a perfect 10). The story and the dangers/rising problems is very captivating and many characters from the series past show up in this issue to give their own thoughts about the situation at hand. Gwen is contemplating what she should do and reviewing her options and possible consequences of each one (There is a part in the comic where Rodriguez draws the All New Avengers and a few other from the 616 and I loved seeing some of my other favorites in his style). Who ultimately helps her make a choice and how is a interesting one plus adds an extra layer of mystery and intrigue to an exclusive series character that has been on her series since issue 1. In the end this issue takes note of where Gwen stands and has set the stage wonderfully for the next issue of Frank Castle VS Spider-Gwen! You can feel the tension and the final pages with Gwen and Frank advancing towards each other ready to go. Can't wait! |
