Redondos level of detail is its own character in this issue. One gets the impression that he knows the history of every building and street corner in Bldhaven. Grayson has a Funko Pop of Robin on his shelf. Hes got a Batman bookend and an array of Nightwing masks as decoration. Its SO fun to look around the edges of any panel and see the personality of Bldhaven through the eyes of Redondo. There are scars visible all over Graysons shirtless torso. Theres so much story in every panel. Its one of those rare issues that feels like its fundamentally integrated with the whole of the continuity in every little, tiny detail. Read Full Review

There is little doubt that Nightwing #105 is one of the most creative endeavors in superhero-related comics that we've seen from books with big iconic characters. There is seemingly nothing that this creative team cannot accomplish when it comes to hitting every note with this series. Nightwing #105 reaffirms its focus on the titular character through an experiment in form, shifting to a first-person perspective for the entire issue. Taylors scripting is simple but effective, laying the track for Redondos art to showcase the experimentation. The art evokes the hallmark of Redondos style but gets to play up the emotions and action to new levels thanks to the shift in form. The first-person perspective is a strong direction to recalibrate expectations for the title, as a new arc and story swings into place. Overall, Nightwing #105 was pretty entertaining. In terms of the story, nothing vital happens. Nothing too new happens. And, nothing shocking is revealed with any crazy twists or cliffhangers. Therefore, the issue itself doesnt move the needle much in terms of narrative plot beats. However, Nightwing #105 is all about Bruno! Bruno is Uber famous! Bruno provides readers with the first-person shooter vibe that elevates this issue making it a visual masterpiece that breaks the glass in terms of revolutionary graphic design. Just like in Nightwing #87 with Taylor and Redondo, this issue takes on an all-new light with this perspective and artistry. There is no doubt that this will be the comic DC fans will be discussing at the water cooler this week! I highly recommend everyone pick it up even if you havent been following along monthly. Nightwing #105 is a fun, yet ultimately disappointing issue that doesn't take full advantage of its visual choices. The idea of an entire issue drawn from Nightwing's point of view is ripe for potential. However, the story at hand here is not always well suited to this perspective, leaving behind a relatively routine chapter that is equal parts enhanced and hurt by the art. I'm glad to see Tom Taylor utilize Heartless again, but the upcoming Knight Terrors event will only drag out this storyline well past its expiration date. Read Full Review

Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo are going for that second Eisner, I see.
Wow, very good, very good indeed. Redondo takes this title to another level. If I'm going to say that this issue misses anything, it's that Taylor forgot that big pharma not only overcharges for faux fixes, but probably also causes this problem (well, there's still time to point that out).
And it's still funny that Heartless had to jump in front of Nightwing for the plot to come back, because if it's up to Dick............ Well, we know what he'll be doing after the issue, probably seeing what we saw a lot in this issue, Barbara's butt.

It's good to see Nightwing back in his solo. The Taylor/Redondo duo's narrative and drawing experiment (seeing through Nightwing's eyes) is quite successful (though not as easy to read as the previous experiment). The story is light, airy, funny and very sympathetic (the passage in the elevator is great). It's a unique number that leaves you smiling. So yes, we'd have liked Tom Taylor to have gone further: (more fighting (I love seeing Nightwing's body language in combat), more eroticism (frankly, Barbara could have worn something other than a T-shirt and pants when she got out of bed), more stress, to be a little scared. But that's okay, because this number is like an aside. You get the feeling that it's going to weig more
Worth checking out for what they did alone in this one. The whole comic being done from the POV of the character is something I haven’t seen before, really cool.

Nightwing #105 is a unique issue that puts the reader in the mind of Dick Grayson as he takes on a new case in Blüdhaven. You are literally in the mind of Dick Grayson — the entire issue is from his POV! Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo have done it again with a profoundly different approach to how we experience comics (the entirety of Nightwing #87 was one long panel), and it is a perfect example of how this creative team's strengths lie in storytelling, no matter the means.
Taylor's writing is as full of energy and humor as always, and he does a great job of capturing the voice of Dick Grayson even in panels where we can’t see him. I think there could have been mor more
It's not as good as the issue where Tom Taylor does one continuous long take, but its good enough
Anyone remember Lady in the Lake? A Philip Marlowe story shot from the PoV of Marlowe? What's that? You've never heard of it? Maybe that's because it's a silly gimmick. It certainly was here, great art in service of a rather bland gimmick and yet another dull and pedantic Tom Taylor story. This comic's gone from DC's best to its least exciting in the space of about a year.
Note for review: This is from a quick read through as it feels more appropriate just to read it quickly.
The art deserves almost my entire score. 5 out of the 10 points are for art. No complaints there. But I dont buy a book just for the art.
The concept is also cool. Catch to the idea though is the book has to be exciting for it to land. Taylor does nothing to make me go 'wow I loved seeing what nightwing sees'. Like it is pretty uneventful and that isnt what I wanted with this type of gimmick. It had so much potential, but once again it is held back by Taylor and his subpar writing style.
TLDR, art is awesome, gimmick is cool but used poorly in an uninspired story. Give me an epic fight or something wort more
