Adam.3 #1

Aug 12, 2015

Will there be more tribes or people next time? Do we need more characters when the animals are so entertaining? I'm very intrigued to see what will unfold in this five issue miniseries. There is so much eye-catching artwork and a compelling story to see in these first and second chapters that I eagerly look forward to see what happens next.

Adam.3 #2

Sep 2, 2015

On the surface, this book looks like as advertised: Jungle adventure mixed with a touch of futuristic tech and aliens. This appears to be a winning combination for this to be an entertaining book. Looking a little deeper, you can see there are some intriguing subplots or mysteries percolating already. I wont spoil those as its part of the charm of this book to see them begin to take root. If youre looking for something fun and gorgeous to read, Adam.3 #2 will not steer your wrong.

Bloodshot: Reborn #1

Apr 15, 2015

I honestly liked Lemire's previous writing in The Valiant earlier this year for Valiant. Hopefully this is just a slow start that ramps up into something superior next month. With an artist on board like Suayan and his proficiency for showing gun ultra-violence, let's see them unleash all thatBloodshot can be in this new series.

Bloodshot: Reborn #2

May 21, 2015

Now that this series has been setup, there are some more persuasive issues that can be raised. How much in control is Bloodshot? How insane is he going to get? How long until some of the bigger guns in the Valiant Universe notice and step in? I look forward to seeing where the blood splatters will take readers in the future.

Bloodshot: Reborn #3

Jun 17, 2015

This creative team is really working well together. This storyline is really coming along nicely and organically. It doesn't feel rushed or scattered. Lemire and company clearly have things in order and we, dear readers get enjoy a refreshing take on a character that for so long seemed be one note. I read awhile back that Bloodshot was going to become a movie in the not-too-distant future. Now I can see why. There is plenty of potential with Bloodshot so come find out what crazy revenge and redemption looks like.

To stop his old nanites from turning innocent people into unhinged killing machines, our former supreme assassin Ray Garrison / Bloodshot has kill. To stop a killer machine from making more killers, he has to kill the infected people and take in his old techno- infection back into his own system. This constantly degrading grip on lucidity and reason make Bloodshot Reborn a continuing tale of redemption in the face of horror and murder.

Book Of Death #1

Jul 15, 2015

If you like fights, heroes fighting heroes, scary things and want to know how an entire universe of heroes will die, then Book of Death #1 is right up your alley. It combines epic crossover in all the good ways with a What If / The End slant. This has all the makings of another instant classic from the always entertaining Valiant Universe.

Book Of Death: The Fall Of Bloodshot #1

Jul 21, 2015

Ultimately, Book of Death: The Fall of Bloodshot #1 tells a complete story in one issue. We see everything a normal man can go through in a life. Thankfully, Bloodshot was no normal man. We, as readers, are treated to a blockbuster of a saga in a mere twenty-five pages which is a remarkable feat in any storytelling medium. Even if youve never read any Bloodshot books, I daresay this story will entertain you nonetheless.

Dead Drop #1

May 6, 2015

As over the top as a story can be with a caveman in alien space armor can be, this tale does a tremendous job of showcasing how X-O Manowarhas adapted well to his new world. He does not hack and slash his way to his adversary but uses his intellect and cunning to try to ensure victory. After only one issue, I'm already imagining this series as a four-part Netflix TV show that is instantly addictive. Get on board and see where this story swerves next.

Not that this book needed it but there were also ninjas thrown in for good measure. You can almost never go wrong with ninjas, right? I like being continually surprised by this series that I will just wait and see what Valiant Universe character will show up next month. I expect Dead Drop to keep readers enthralled until the very end.

Dead Drop #3

I honestly was pulling for the underdog Beta-Max by the end of Dead Drop #3. All he ever wanted to do was be a secret agent and help save people. I hope his efforts help the real Neville Alcott ultimately save the day because he deserves it after this display of heroism by fax machine.

Divinity #2

Mar 18, 2015

This has so far been a refreshing take on the benevolent god making utopia on Earth. I've been very impressed with how Kindt and Hairsine's arc and really want to see how things progress with each page. The fact that Unity, the MI-6's elite tactical team and Valiant Universe's team supreme, are entering the fray only adds to the anticipation I have for next month. Pick up this series and see how much change is coming, whether Earth is ready or not.

Divinity #4

May 27, 2015

The extra pages and insight from writer Kindt at the end of the story only enhance the overall experience of the entire miniseries. We are assured that there is more Divinity to come this year which is magnificent news. I'm eager to see how this mighty character will interact with the other power players touring around the Valiant Universe. This series established something new, potent and potentially dangerous into their world. I can't wait to see where they take him next.

God Hates Astronauts #7

Apr 1, 2015

Next month looks like time travel will be involved. Here's hoping it blends this wacky world even more than it already has been the last seven issues. This series is a truly fresh shot of hot sauce in the eyes in the comic book world. The random candy ads and backup story are just more helpings of Browne's unchecked imagination. I hope readers are brave enough to give God Hates Astronauts a chance. Even without knowing everything that's going on, this book is an entertaining read so give it a look-see.

Harada continues to gather weapons to unleash upon the Valiant Universe. His arsenal gets more and more ominous each chapter. Imperium #4

May 13, 2015

This book continues to impress me. Not only are the bad guys winning, you as a reader really want them to because it`s such an engaging story. I know there are tried and true archetype characters being shown to us in this book but they look and sound like nothing I`ve read before in comics. Everyone is complex and compelling and it`s all leading towards something bigger and bolder down the line. Imperium #4 is unsettling enough on its own to read. It's even better when you catch up to this series. Go ahead and get on the winning side and watch what smart storytelling looks like.

Imperium #5

Jun 3, 2015

The second half, like all good caper films, shows off just how they pulled it off. The only thing that takes away from the story is the art by Scot Eaton. There's nothing wrong with his work. He's a very capable artist in the traditional sense and approach to comic book storytelling. However, it lacks the menace; the grit and the eeriness that helped establish how atypical this book is. Hopefully it steps up next month. This story is so refreshingly original I look forward to seeing what happens next. You should too so keep reading.

Imperium #7 is a showcase for many things. It shows readers how Divinity chooses to interact with those of power around him. Ivar, Timewalker #2

Feb 18, 2015

It's thought-provoking to me that time travel always wants to change things that have happened in the past. Van Lente eloquently asks "Who doesn't fanaticize about becoming the editor of their own life..?" Ivar, Timewalker #2 shows both sides of that argument so effectively that I still don't know what side I come down on. I just know I want to see what this time traveller takes us next and if he's really that clever

The covers have been iconic and beautifully simplistic from the get-go. This month's beauty by Raul Allen is no exception. Each one looks like an oh-so enticing movie I know people would line up for. Ivar, Timewalker #5

May 28, 2015

Ivar is a compelling character worth following. He seems to be doing things for noble reasons. He appears to have good intentions to saving all of creation. The fun part is seeing how manipulative he is going about it. Doing something good but going about it deviously is a great hook for any story. Add to it the layering of different eras, straight face lying to hero siblings and bribery with burgers and you have a tale that warrants your undivided attention.

Ivar, Timewalker #7

Jul 21, 2015

I think I may have an apt description for this series: huge space epic with a lot of hilarity, double-talking and half-ass heroism thrown in for good measure. As dire as the end of time and space seems to loom over our titular hero, Ivar, Timewalker #7 continues to not make it seem too ominous and doomy-gloomy. Like all the good parts of Back to the Future, its an adventurous series worth your time.

Maybe that's the magic spell Morrison and Burnham are casting with this series. Hope seems to have been stripped away already in this story. I'll admit I was not overwhelmed with the first issue of Rebels. I've never been a big fan of American history since I'm not from there. The Goon: Once Upon A Hard Time #2

Mar 25, 2015

Reason and understanding has left our capped hero. His moves are now more primal and vicious than ever before. Perhaps this is what The Goon has to do to prevail. It clearly won't be pretty but as long as he wins, that's what matters, right? I miss the funny and wacky moments that popped up in this series. Grim and gritty was something I would never use to describe The Goon before this arc. It's dark and good but I need some sliver of hope in there somewhere. Hopefully there's some light left buried deep in there somewhere down the line.

With so many moving parts, it still feels like an intimate story with the fate of the world thrown in with the attempt to save one another.
