AVX: Consequences #2

Oct 18, 2012

I very much suggest getting into this short series, as I will be, every week until the bitter end, in three weeks.

Swamp Thing (2011) #14

Nov 10, 2012

Leaving Ivy with the Parliament, Alec and Boston take off via a beautifully handcrafted leaf boat towards Gotham City in pursuit of a weapon to defeat the Rot. Boston knows a guy. Alec says something about a quiet cruise about one panel before a full on attack from Rot team. Things are heating up in this swampy adventure and I will keep riding along with it. I’d say this is a heavy-handed must read. Seriously, go get it.

Batman (2011) #14

Nov 15, 2012

Like the Snyder Batman’s that came before, this is another solid installment and a nice escalation to the “DEATH OF THE FAMILY” story arc. I’m looking forward to some depraved Joker antics in the issues to come.

Hawkeye (2012) #5

Dec 6, 2012

I read these books way fast, like two minutes fast. I guess that speaks to Pulido’s skills of making it flow so hard. He has a very easy on the eyes style that adds to the excitement of the story. There aren’t a lot of words, so Pulido’s strokes are really the driving force behind Hawkeye. I dig this series and am enjoying how each issue is pretty much a one-shot, save for The Tape Part 1 & 2, making it easy to jump on anywhere. My only concern is whether or not Fraction will be able to keep the story fresh. I can already see some redundancies, but that adds to the charm of Fraction’s Hawkeye. I just hope it stays that way. For right now, I’m into it and recommend the series highly, despite this last story, The Tape, being my least favorite so far.

Lot 13 (2012) #2

Nov 29, 2012

This was number two of five, so I will probably stick with it until the end to see if Steve Niles can pull himself out of this ghost cliché nosedive and give me something fresh. It doesn’t sound like it, but I am enjoying this series and would recommend it to anyone easily entertained by haunted houses and gory ghost stuffs.
