Airboy #2 is more welcomed debauchery from Robinson and Hinkle. This comic is quickly becoming a must read for any aspiring writer as it outlines the struggles we will all eventually face when trying to put pen to paper. Robinson and Hinkle are crafting their opus and while it's just getting started I can't wait to see how it ends.

Aliens: Defiance #1 is not a perfect comic as it has some minor plot holes and logic leaps but Wood, Jones and Jackson create a comic that hearkens back to the hay day of the Alien franchise. Its a good start with some stellar art but lets hope the story tightens and the action intensifies as the journeycontinues.

All-New Wolverine #31 was a fun ride that held a simple message of family in it's simple yet delightful narrative.

This arc took great risks, like leaving Gotham behind almost completely and having only Duke, a polarizing pet project of the author, tagging along with the titular hero. But they worked. The pulpy feel is punctuated to great effect in issue #5. The action feels epic like any finale should and the character drama has the sort of grand reveal we should've always expected. All-Star Batman was promised as a series of smaller arcs wherein Batman focuses on one enemy at a time. Snyder really delivered a worthwhile Two-Face story in just 110 pages or so and now he's looking ahead to my personal favorite villain, Mr. Freeze, and I can't wait to see what he and Romita Jr. can come up with next.

The creative team of Abnett, Eaton, and Briones have hit this issue out of the park and I wouldn't be surprised at all if this ongoing battle between Arthur's ideals and now Corum Rath's and the Elders dated traditions throws us through a few more loops before a resolution is made.

Abnett and Sejic are a force to be reckoned with.

This was definitely a mixed bag of an issue. There was a lot of humor and heart in the writing and Dilton is super sweet, however the pencils did lack detail and I definitely wanted more Jughead!

Babyteeth is a world of demons, secret society's, magic, bounty hunters, and a strong family.

Batman #51 is the perfect end to the perfect Batman run. Snyder and Capullo send us off the same way they hooked us, with some great story telling and tremendous art. If there was ever a dynamic duo in comics, Snyder and Capullo are arguably it as they became the Dark Knight writers we deserved. If you have been reading Batman from the beginning then I don't have to tell you this is a must read issue. If you haven't read Batman from Snyder and Capullo, there is no better time to start than now and when you reach this final issue, hopefully you will feel the same way I did. I'm sad to see them go, but excited to see what comes next from both creators.

The War of Jokes and Riddles is ramping up to be the most cinematic of Tom King's work so far.

Batman #27's main purpose ultimately is to serve as a joke for readers, and it does ultimately succeed at that, but its scripting throughout feels more like a riddle to me.

Issue 31 is a mixed bag for me. It's drifting from what I liked about this arc to begin with but it also does something exciting and new, which is always worthy of commendations in a character nearly a century old.

Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 didn't offer anything fantastical or groundbreaking in the world of publisher cross-overs. What it does offer is some amazing visuals of some of your favorite characters with an engaging and intriguing story by a proven creator. This is a 90's kid's dream and I still can't believe its real.

I've said it once and I'll say it a million more times Batman/TMNT is a must read comic for any nerd of the 90s. Hell, its a must read comic for anyone who loves these characters. Issue 5 while its mostly set up for the final battle, its an unbelievable one that gives us acliffhangerI thought only possible in my dreams.

Above all, this issue brings the action with enough stabbing, poisons, and decapitated animals to send PETA into a coma. The ending leaves you panting for more, along with a selection of ads for future Mad Cave titles, all of which I'll be covering over 2019.

Big Trouble in Little China Escape From New York #3 is continually engaging and hilarious story that pays due respect to Carpenter's characters and artwork that is gritty, vibrant and playful.

Black Canary #6 is perfection on every level. Fletcher's writing is fast paced, action packed but still holds something back, while Wu and Lourhridge's art will leave you flabbergasted with joy. This series is not to be missed and this issue is another perfect example as to why. Music lovers and aspiring creators especially need to read Black Canary as it has so much to offer.

Bloodlines #1 is the perfect comic for new readers as the barrier to entry is brokenand you have the luxury of meeting and growing with characters as they come to life for the first time. Avid comic readers may have heard this origin before but the art used to tell it makes every panel worth a read.

Bloodlines isn't a comic that will win awards or break molds, but damn is it entertaining and a great example as to why we read comics. Bloodlines is a comic I would recommend to new readers as they will experience all the necessary tropes and tragedies that come along with becoming a superhero for maybe the first time. It's not a terrible way to have this story be told and the art will surely keep you interested as Bloodlines #2 brutally unfolds its tale.

Broken World #1 is an emotional journey to the end of the world. Barbiere sets up his unique premise with strong character focus and while the pace is a little slow the payoff is massive. The team of Peterson and Louise bring an art style that is minimal yet striking giving this apocalyptic tale the color and brightness it needs. Broken World is a must read if you're for those who love the end of the world genre and are looking for a fresh take on the most used setting in media.

Although my Conan and Red Sonja experience doesn't go beyond a couple of movies and a trip to Universal Studios, I still feel this newest edition to their mythos is something fans and newcomers will enjoy immensely. Zub and Simone are perfect team to give these characters the right amount of heroism and heart to make anyone become a fan. Conan Red Sonja #1 maybe the perfect introduction to these characters and their dynamic and has only further peaked my interest in a franchise that I never took seriously.

Between the writing fromMiller and Azzarello and the perfect strokes of Kubert, Janson, and Anderson The Dark Knight III is really shaping up to be a Batman book for the ages. We are getting a dark and down right dirty version of the Dark Knight as it crawls back from the ash towards potential greatness. The mystery and intrigue bring something new to each issue and engage the reader beyond the hopeful appearance of the Caped Crusader. If this book continues on this path and builds the story slowly, but surely, there is no reason you shouldn't be all on board and anxiously anticipating each issues arrival.

Dark Knight III: The Master Race #5 is the beginning of the end as Batman starts to make his stand against The Master Race. The smile on Batman's face in the final panel really sums up my feelings on this book and how I imagine the creators feel. Everyone is enjoying every moment of creating this tale and it shows through in every panel, but most of all on that last page of issue 5. Everything about that image just screams "We love these characters, and we love writing these stories," and when creators love what they are creating we all win.

DC Rebirth #1 is an warm, heartfelt apologyto fans for the mistakes of erasing everything we loved. And while they acknowledge they made a mistake and are looking to right it, Johns and crew also look to the future and ask us to forgive, accept and move on. DC Rebirth #1 is the perfect comic for new and old fans alike, just like the master he is Johns expertly sinks in his hooks, reels us all back in and just like that we are 10 again, wide eyed and excited for the next adventure.

Deadly Class #11 is everything I could ever want in a finale. Remender delivers the action and emotional resolution we have been patiently awaiting sense Marcus first walked into Dominion High School for the Deadly Arts and once again proves he is the king of the "slow burn." If Remender's story wasn't good enough Craig and Loughride's art makes this fantastic finale a feast for the eyes. Deadly Class #11 is the perfect ending to what has been an emotional, horrific and very high school journey for Marcus; I can't wait for what's next.

Doomsday Clock is maybe DC Comics biggest risk ever as they simultaneously are creating a sequel to arguably the greatest comic of all time, while also attempting to integrate this decaying world into a hopeful DC Universe. Its a risk that if handled correctly could become one of the greatest moments in comics history, and if issue one is any indication I think it safe to say Doomsday Clock couldn't possibly be in better hands.

Good, tight storytelling and great art build an interesting new world with some more interesting characters

As for the art, Balboni has a style that is all her own. The line art is crisp, clean, and a joy to look at, while minor touches like facial expressions, background, and page layouts are all handled with a professional touch. There is little doubt from me that we will be seeing a lot more of this Italian's fine works in the future.

The Flash #50 flies by and despite finding the “easy way out”, Jensen and crew give us an action packed 50th issue worthy of the Scarlet Speeder. The Flash #50 will showreaderswhyBarry Allen's TheFlash is theunrelenting hero you can't help but love.

Burnham's hook is definitely what sells this first issue setting a very high bar for future installments. Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues #1 sets up what can be a great continuation to a fan favorite film. Its biggest problem will be maintaining this great start as the series continues and the premise builds. I can say this book invigorated my need for more from the NESA Protector crew especially my personal favorite Guy Fleegman AKA Security Chief Roc Ingersoll (Sam Rockwell). Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues offers a fantastic first issue geared directly to fans of the film. If you haven't seen the movie this comic probably isn't for you but in that case you really need to see Galaxy Quest (like right now) and then read this book.

Overall, Graveyard Shift excels at bringing a fresh take on the vampire genre with characters that are smart and engaging. The miniseries is a good introduction to what really should be an on-going series to better flesh out the world-building. The conclusion may have been fleeting, but Faerber and Bueno have established a great foundation that will hopefully continue at some point.

Green Lantern #50 is definitely not a comic for new readers, but Green Lantern fans should be pleased as two of the most powerful beings in Green Lantern history collide to be the sole savior of Central City. It's a cool homage to an issue 50 of Green Lantern's past that strives also pushing the series forward.

Green Lanterns: Rebirth #1 is a decent introduction to our two rookie lanterns and their future adventures together. Its set up was unfortunately hampered by Johns' need to expand a Green Lantern universe that maybe doesn't need expanding. Only time will tell if Johns and crew can continue to keep the colors from bleeding together as we rocket into the new age of DC comics and Rebirth.

Gunsuits #1 is an entertaining and different take for any fan of the Kajiu Battling genre and well worth the read for comic fans in general. Tobin is building a world with endless possibilities so this whole thing can go array quickly but as an introductory issue this was a fantastic start to what I hope ends up being an unforgettable tale.

Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps: Rebirth #1 is all history lesson and set up but it succeeds in what a comic is suppose todo and that's make you want more. Vendetti and Sciver get to literally rebuild the Green Lantern's from the ground up and I can't wait to see were the duo takes them. New readers will find this issue an enlightening journey of light, death and rebirth, while long time fans can get excited by whats to come and the amazingly beautiful universe Van Sciver continues to construct.

Harley Quinn and Her Gang of Harleys #1 may spell the beginning of the pop culture onslaught Harley is about to unleash, but that doesn't make it any less fun or enjoyable. If you can't get enough of the Clown Princess of DC, this comic was made for you.

I said a lot of what I needed to in my first review about why this book is a beacon light in a somewhat darker comics world. I also mentioned why this series is a fresh breath of air and why I love it already. So I'll try to keep this short, issue 2 of Huck did not disappoint. Millar created a character that I wouldn't be afraid to show to a younger audience. A character with learning disabilities that's still a hero, and that alone is something kids can relate to. If I had this comic when I was a childit really would've made a difference as I struggled through elementary school to high school. I know that it can make a difference to kids who are still struggling today. This series is fantastic so far and it's only two issues in, do yourself a favor check it out.

Imaginary Fiends takes the innocence of the imaginary friend and turns into a twisted buddy cop adventure that is certain to be the subject of all your nightmares.

Injustice Gods Among Us: Year Five #1 is a bitter sweet first issue as it marks the beginning of the end of one of DC Comic's most critically acclaimed books. Buccellato offers both a look back, while pushing us forward, while Miller, Coelloand Nanjan'sart impresses with its clarity and color. If you haven't been reading Injustice this maybe the perfect place to start.

Justice League #47 is a great issue if you have already been reading The Darkseid War. It sets up our epic battle with some great confrontations of its own and does a great job of teasing whats ahead. It has little action but in its place we get more story which is never a bad thing. If you have been read Johns' Justice League you will not be disappoint. If you haven't been read, The Darkseid War would be a great place to start.

Justice League #50 is the perfect end to what in my opinion was the best comic book series of the New 52. Johns simply understands the comic book medium and what makes it special and every ounce of his knowledge and fandom spews from the pages of Darkseid War Part 10. It's a must read issue that will only further your excitement for the future of DC comics and its universe.

Justice League The Darkseid War: Lex Luthor #1 starts with a great ideaintroduced by Geoff Johns but does little to make that premise unique and memorable. Manapul has a lot of potential with this character and his new position of power, lets hope he explores those ideas in later issues.

The Darkseid War continues to make its Omega Mark as one of the great DC events. Geoff Johns and crew are marking their last New 52 stand and its a wonderfully entertaining epic that every comic fan should be reading. Justice League: The Darkseid War Special #1 is the ultimate tie in comic and everything fans of the event have been asking for.

There are definitely some interesting threads set up here, and in tone it's very much a proper tie-in. In storytelling, however, it feels unfocused so far, which is quite unlike the game.

Lucifer #1 is well worth the read especially in anticipation of the upcoming FOX television show. It does have some pretty heavy theological dialogue than can hold you down, but once you soak it in, you will feel right at home. Its beautiful characters and dark orange and reds are welcoming, while its story hooks you slowly but surely.

I wanted to love Andromeda, but sadly the game never hit the same notes as its predecessors. For that reason, it's perhaps an even greater achievement that Discovery can introduce what looks to be a worthwhile addition to the massive mythos of Mass Effect.

To close this out I'll say the Punisher is one of my favorite Marvel characters and it's great to see him handled well. Moving forward I can't wait to see what this creative team puts out. As always, do yourself a favor and buy this book.

The world-building on Replica#3 is eye-popping and the narrative growth from issue one to now is taking shape nicely as the mystery begins to unfold. Jenkins' Trevor Churchill is a great comic book character but his clones also get some development. AfterShock Comics has another winner on its hands and the fact that after three issues Replicais still compelling and funny proves it.

Star Trek Green Lantern is by no means a perfect book and if you aren't a fan of either of these properties you may find it dull as it requires a pretty strong familiarity with both franchises. But for Star Trek and Green Lantern fans this comic is definitely worth a look as it may be IDW's most sensical crossover yet as these two franchises mesh so well. Also After seeing the final pages of this comic I honestly say you will have a hard time saying no to issue 2.

To begin, the dialogue here was brilliant. The comics conveyed a banter that far surpassed any of the screenwriting for the Revenge of the Sith film.

While I wasn't a huge fan of booth stories and preferred Deadshot's over Katana's I would still say this is not a bad place to start preparing for the Suicide Squad film. If anything you will certainly walk away with a better understanding of who these character's are and their place in the world. Here is hoping the next 5 issues have the same impact.

Suicide Squad Special: War Crimes #1 is another testament to how to tell a Task Force X story and do it well. Everyone has their role, the mission is appropriate to their skills and with get the ruthless, cutthroat moments we love from the team and especially Waller. Fans of the movie will enjoythis comic because its more Suicide Squad, while comic fans will love it because its the Suicide Squad they know and love without the meddling of Hollywood.

Superman: American Alien continues to be an interesting and uniquelook into the early life Clark Kent. Landis really shines in his character interactions as the dialogue is as entertaining as the action. He knows Superman's world so well and I am having a ton funwatching him play in it.

Superman: American Alien is one of the best Superman stories in decades and it proves the character can be handled right and with reverence. Don't sit on this series, you will be sorry you passed it up.

Admittedly this comic isn't going to be for everyone as new comic book readers may find it a little too old fashioned for their tastes. Older fans of the character however will find Superman: The Coming of the Supermen #1 a homage to comics of old and even though the story needs to slow down and take a breath, Adams' art saves the day with its classic lines, bright bountiful coloring and dynamic action. Superman fans, this one is for you.

Superman: The Coming of the Supermen #2 is mostly more of the same, and while we do get some additional plot, the cheesy dialogue and deep dive into nostalgia maybe too much for newer comic book readers. But where Adams may lose you on story and dialogue, he will tighten his grip and never let go thanks to his out-of-this-world art style that begs you to be a fan of Superman.

Eduardo Pansica does great work with the art in the issue. The characters look great and the action in the fight against Elias is amazing. 

The Auteur: Sister Bambi #1 is another very adult but very entertaining journey into the life of a movie producer. Spears and Callahan have once again grabbed my attention and there is no way I'm turning away. Sister Bambi #1 is the kind of comic book you read when you have had one of those days. A perfect escape full of everything you love; outrageous humor, hardcore violence and a satirical commentary on the workings of Hollywood.

The Ghost Fleet continues to scratch my 80s action itch with Cates and crew bringing us a story that only gets better with each issue. After seeing the final page of issue 3 I can't wait for The Ghost Fleet to give me another swift kick to the balls.

Ghost Fleet continues to be a glorious trip that hearkens back to when the action movie was king. While this issue doesn't give us any straight forward answers but instead only offers more questions The Ghost Fleet continues to leave break crumbs that are keeping this hungry reader satisfied but still wanting more.

The Ghost Fleet #8 is my first big for best comic of the year so far. With a series that has been non stop craziness, Cates and Johnson deliver their most insane chapter yet with issue 8 and present and ending that is not to be missed. If you haven't been reading The Ghost Fleet, put up your feet, grab a beer and sit back an amazingly awesome ride full of friendship, betrayal, explosions and the end of the world.

The Jungle Book: Fall of the Wild, takes the old tale in new directions as Mark L. Miller uses war as his backdrop to tell a new story in this well-traveled road. While this first issue is mostly set up and offers little in substance the pieces are there for Miller to tell an entertaining story with a topical message. Bandini's art is simplistically beautiful as the color and character designs really make each page an enjoyable viewing. The Jungle Book: Fall of the Wild is an okay first issue that suffers from a lack of back-story but what it promises could become a very interesting direction for the classic tale.

The Legend of Wonder Woman explores the origin and early years of Diana prince. A tale we haven't really heard before, and as her stock grows with her impending live action debut, De Liz and Dillion are delivering the perfect origin to accompany it. Wonder Woman's origin has always been tricky and I think these creators have finally cracked the code.

If you love Wonder Woman, or want to fall in love with her all over again, then The Legend of Wonder Womanis the book for you. A deserving retelling that demonstrates what made Diana the noble warrior of great character that she is with a compelling all-ages approach that works on every level. Buy the digital chapters, buy the print edition, just get your hands on it and savor what a great superhero comic should be.

If it's not obvious by now The Paybacks gets a big fat 10. The Paybacks #1 is a comic you will read over and over again, and then pass it along to your friends proclaiming "you have to read this." Superhero fans will rejoice at its satire and love for the genre while comic fans in general will admire its beautiful aesthetic and perfectly paced, humor filled story. If you haven't already add The Paybacks to your pull list, I promise at the very least it will make you chuckle and brighten your day for at least 15-20mins.

Not to be out done by our tremendous writing duo, Geoff Shaw's art was made for this comic. His character designs are superhero masterpieces. Each one is unique yet invokes a classic character from comic book past orpresent. Shaw's action sequences are clear, direct and a pleasure for the eyes. Lauren Affe color's add a special 90's comic flare that bring the tone and characters to life. Every panel is a testament to how much these creators love comics. I know I have said it before but The Paybacks is a must read comic for every fan of the medium. Cates, Rahal and Shaw love comicbooksand it shows with every word bubble, cliffhanger and character homage. The Paybacks arethe lovable band of superheros you are missing from you life, so sit down, introduce yourself and hold on for the best ride of 2015.

I'm in love with TheSheriff of Babylon and issue 4 only intensifies those feelings, everything about it is exactly what I want in a story. Tom King and Mitch Gerads are quickly becoming two of my favorite creators and its due to the strength of this story. If you haven't started reading TheSheriff of Babylonalready, you need to know that you're missing out on something special.

Kirkman and his team delivered on all cylinders in this issue.

We Stand on Guard #6 serves as a satisfying ending to a wonderfully unique revenge story. He does such a great job at making you feel for the characters and their causethat by the final page of this issue you will standing at full attention, with a single tear running down you cheek, proudly signing "O Canada."
