If there ever was a time I would say spend your 4 bucks elsewhere, this would be a GREAT time to do so. It's unimaginative, have a very scattered plot and juvenile to the point of ridiculousness.

The Man of Steel (2018) #5

Jun 27, 2018

Rogol Zaar does nothing for this book. The plotlines and mysteries do nothing to keep the story interesting. For what it was worth, it would have been easier just to trot doomsday out for another go at it, or make this a one shot comic than try to tide fans over a few months until the full-fledged Superman issues come out. If you made it this far, finish it and pray that it gets better. If you just picked this up and are confused, wait and get the trade. pass on this book.

Justice League of America (2017) #23

There is nothing new here that you havent already seen. If you are invested in the storyline, then pick this up, otherwise if you are returning to the series, be warned that jumping in here may not be a good place to start.

Imperium #5

Certainly, Marvel and DC shouldnt have a monopoly on the superhero/sci-fi market. Its a big industry with room for a lot of concepts, so Id encourage readers who are over-saturated with event after event but want to stay within the genre to look to other publishers. Its just that this particular offering from Valiant reads like an average 90s book that youd find in a clearance sale dollar bin today. Its acceptable, but not the standout alternative youre looking for.

Black #1

The problem is that it's so derivative of other stories told that it's hard to see how it will set itself apart from everything else that's already out there. This book has a very big chance to fall into a trap of being a Blaxploitation kind of a book as well if the story doesn't separate itself from the pack.

Zodiac Starforce #1

In summary, its a good start for this book. While some work is needed with the dialogue, the plot and the Ganucheaus' art really makes it worthwhile. Panetta did an excellent job at introducing us to the characters and laying the groundwork for a larger well-thought out universe. For those looking to have a good book with a female team as well as those who are manga fans wont go wrong here.

Superman (2016) #3

Jul 20, 2016

Overall, in 3 issues, I am hoping that Tomasi can stay on for a very long run. The problem that DC has had is that with its flagship title is that it's gone through too many hands during the New 52 phase. So far, I really like what Tomasi is bringing us back to: a time when Kal-el and Lois were married, and now they have a son with his powers. But the progression is not going to be easy. Where Damian Wayne had a hard time adjusting socially, it looks like Jon will have a curve of learning how his human body works with his Kryptonian powers. This will not just be a kid who just automatically be “the next Superman.” Jon's issues will come and he will have to learn to deal with them. Let's enjoy this while we can and hope that DC does not do another reboot in a year, wiping them out yet again.

Superman (2016) #33

Overall, I hope the next few books do better at pulling readers into this story because while I can kind of see how this ends, its getting me to care about the end thats needed for me to stay with this story.

The Once And Future Queen #1

Nick Brokenshire's art is playful and upbeat. Every other page changes color to set the tone for what is happening in the book and it's really allows the reader to appreciate how his work flows well with the story. The character expressions are fun as well, and his art is what saves this book from being a drab retelling.

I am a bit torn on this, as it was just "more Thrawn". In this story, Thrawn is tasked in bringing about the cessation of a spice operation on yet another forgettable planet in Imperial territory.

Action Comics (2016) #1000

Apr 18, 2018

Bottom Line, if you are a comic fan"not just a Superman fan, but a comic fan"you cannot miss Action#1000. Most of us never thought we would see a day any comic would hit a thousand issues. This is by far one of the best milestone comics in a long time and you cannot miss it. There is something here for everyone and it sets the bar for every comic that will cross the 100 mark over the next few years. There are so many cameos and easter eggs that this book will be worth reading through multiple times to catch them all.

Assassin's Creed #2

Nov 10, 2015

If you are a fan of the games and still working your way through Syndicate, this is a good way to take a break in between the game. Its also a good time period to explore as thus far in the game we have only seen Connors story in North America and despite that story not being overly exciting, the game showed what could be done with Colonial America. This title thus far is worth picking up and I cant wait for the next issue.

Marvel Legacy #1

Sep 24, 2017

I really enjoyed this book and I am hoping that Marvel sticks to the line of telling tighter stories. If you are a lapsed reader as I am, this book may do well to convince you to come back. Aaron and Ribics work here is a solid effort to win back a lot of the audience who may have been lost in the last few years, and to be brutally honest, I will slowly and carefully with my dollars, dipping back into the Marvel pool. As long as we dont get derailed with yet another Marvel book wide event promising to shake up the universe as we know it, I will stick around. As far as this book is concerned, its a very good start forward, lets hope that it continues.

Predator vs. Judge Dredd vs. Aliens #1

Jul 22, 2016

So far this is a great start to this story as this may be the AvP story we probably should have gotten in the movies. I can only imagine what craziness awaits readers in the next issue with another version of Alien/Predator DNA running amok. Also just in case you wanted to know, I had Karl Urbans voice in my head every time I read Dredds dialogue. Be sure to check this book out along with an interview we got from John Layman regarding what we can expect from this story.

Secret Wars (2015) #3

Jun 3, 2015

The book, as I said earlier, can be wordy but if anyone has ever followed Hickman, this is what he does. With the way that the story is told, readers get a front seat to seeing who are The Powers That Be and those that run things behind the scenes. We are not quite halfway into this ride and things are starting to heat up. I can only image what will happen once Thanos fully inserts himself into the picture.

Star Wars: Darth Vader (2017) #13

Star Wars: Darth Vader (2017) #16

May 10, 2018

Giuseppe Camuncoli's art is still as solid as always, especially during the flashbacks as we learn about the other Jedi. The dark colors used throughout the comic also add to the tension and hopelessness of the situation. This is one of the few times you may actually root for the bad guys, even though this story is less about them!

One thing is for sure and that is as we come down to the final six issues, after what Tony sees, the gloves are off. We are close to the end of a world that I have come to know and love for years and still have no idea what we will see, but the new loss that will surely affect Tony and push this book to its inevitable conclusion.

Strange Fruit #1

Jul 10, 2015

To sum up, when you look at the overall story, there is a comparison we can see with this story as it mirrors real life right now. There is a great disaster going on. Those in power, even when getting adequate help instead of utilizing the help, would rather lay blame on others rather than look in the mirror. Also, they allow themselves to be distracted by lesser matters, than focusing on the impending and obvious doom that approaches. This book in its own way is similar to Southern Bastards in that the story content about life in some parts of America are clearly defined in black and white and has not changed despite new rules and generations coming along. The commentary alone is worth the price of purchase.

Archie (2015) #1

All in all, with this entire reboot, I feel that this is a book that could give me the buffer that is needed from world ending scenarios of the Never Ending Secret Crisis of the Impending Final Wars of the Multiverse. The story isnt hard to think about and very relatable. I have loved the humor all throughout the 3 issues that have hit the shelves and this comes highly recommended

Black Panther (2016) #1

Apr 6, 2016

I am very impressed with the start of this new Black Panther series. This was definitely the book many of us were waiting for and it was worth the wait. If I read nothing else from Marvel this year, this book will firmly be on my pull list. From the time it was announced until now, I knew we were getting something good and it's great to see such an excellent start.

Loki: Agent of Asgard #10

Jan 22, 2015

Ewing has for the past couple years done a spectacular job of weaving events based on prior continuity, but using it as grist for the mill as opposed to simply showing hed done his homework, and it works best with someone like Loki who has ages of history and more to come. Lee Garbett has from the start defined the look of the series, taken what Stephanie Hans and Jamie McKelvie built and made it his own. Actions scenes and talky scenes alike are both given equal resonance, and for a book thats built on human relationships as Loki, it only helps to have someone who can bring the wham, as well as the sad. I dont want to give away the events of the series as they occur, thats what reading is for, but either way your 3.99 is well-deserved with Loki.
