In the end, '68 Scars shows potential for all the creative team, but needs more focus before it's realised.

Although, having leveled all these criticisms, I've gotta say, there's something in here that is kinda goofy and fun and compelling in its own dumb way.It's fun, but it missed its bus when it was meant to meet you half-way.

Further, Marc Silvestri's writing is a bit heavy on the exposition, making this a bit of a slog to get through. Characters and their motivations are a bit hazy. But, worst of all, is the misogynistic way the characters talk. And these are the heroes. One of our "heroes" has a tendency to call all the female characters "bitch" and to equate everyone he's murdering with vaginas. I don't want these guys to win. I want them lose, badly. And I don't want to read this.

The last piece, "Te Vas Angel Mio", came really close to being something special, as a musician is perhaps visited by the spirit of his deceased lover for one night, but faltered largely due to the irritating decision to have the spirit speak only in hackneyed maxims. Through all this, though, Rossmo's art shines through and makes this almost worth the price of admission.

This is unfiltered Morrison crazy, and it's excellent. I'd be happier if he just did independent stuff from now on. This is how you craft comics - with joy, with, anger, grit, satire and empathy for your characters.

Ryan Ottley's art is wonderful, as ever, and he's really become one of the best storytellers in the business at this stage. The consistency of this title is pretty stunning, and it always finds its way to the top of my stack.

Everyone should be reading this. This comic is more beautiful than puppies crying beneath a double rainbow.

If you dig shows like Firefly, or even more traditional westerns, sci-fi and what-not, you could do a lot worse than Storm Dogs. I'll certainly be tracking down those earlier issues.

Reading The Darkness is like having an annoying friend yell over the top of a loud party while describing a movie they think they saw.

This comic is near flawless, and I'm not even that angry about coming in mid-story anymore. This comic had an effect that so few things do these days, and that is that it made me want to track all the previous Skullkickers issues and read them. If you like superhero comics, action comics or humour comics, no one is doing it better than these guys.

Seifert and Ketner make this comic a kidney stone of fun to pass, and the whole thing just has this wonderfully playful tone that makes me want to read everything else they've done. While a bit fluffy, this is a seriously cool comic.

I was impressed by the restraint in the issue by not objectifying the lead as I had assumed Witchblade was wont to do, and figured I must be wrong about this comic, but DON'T WORRY - Sara's shirt is torn in battle, and then another character is characterised by having breasts bigger than her head, because: boobs. Besides some imaginative flourishes, this is one to leave on the shelf.
