My recommendation? This title is good. The story is fun. The characters are great. The art is on point. Oh, and the series is available for FREE on Comixology. Read it! You have to hand it to Top Cow for asking the fans what they wanted and the fans responded loud and clear. While this issue might not be the absolute best to try to dive into, it's only the third issue in and since the first issue was free, I can't think of an adequate reason why new readers wouldn't want to try this one out. So far each issue has shed a little more light on what the hell is going on and who these characters are. I'm sure old fans will follow along better than new ones, but that doesn't really matter. If you like alternate timeline X-Men stories this is a great alternative. It's a weird kind of future setting with weird technological upgrades being done to people and dogs that are also telepathic. But on top of that there's some fun banter and dialogue plus a number off pop culture references to things like The Walking Dead. Read Full Review
Further, Marc Silvestri's writing is a bit heavy on the exposition, making this a bit of a slog to get through. Characters and their motivations are a bit hazy. But, worst of all, is the misogynistic way the characters talk. And these are the heroes. One of our "heroes" has a tendency to call all the female characters "bitch" and to equate everyone he's murdering with vaginas. I don't want these guys to win. I want them lose, badly.
