Commanders in Crisis #9 overall feels like Orlando's primarily preparing for the climax of the story, but it's a necessary setup. Unlike some other comics' expositional issues, this one doesn't feel like a simple filler -- and despite a few lulls, continues to explore the story's themes and character dynamics.

Despite any qualms around performativity or rainbow-washing I may have with DC, the comic itself contains a plethora of great stories, ranging from cute and charming to heartfelt and intriguing accompanied by gorgeous pinups and cool interviews from DC TV stars. Definitely worth picking up for some fun content and to show DC that this kind of issue is something worth continuing.

The incredible work done in this one-shot would be a waste if DC didn't continue it in some way. Batman: Secret Files - The Signal #1 pulls every corner of Duke Thomas together for an engaging story full of heart and growth and gives him a springboard to soar. Whether you're a longtime fan of Duke or a bat-centric reader, if you needed a signal to pick Batman: Secret Files - The Signal #1 up, this is it.

A seething, thematic gothic exploration of epilepsy in the brutal context of god-fearing 19th century England that aptly mirrors the present, God of Tremors adds another hit to Milligan's library of horrific wonder.

Fans of Reg's 'The Cartoon Utopia' will eat this book up and new readers are sure to be enchanted by his unique perspectives and art. It gave me an (albeit positive) "what the f*ck" moment, but Halcyon's untethered narrative and dreamy, contemplative art make for an experience I won't soon forget.
