Birthright #5

Feb 7, 2015

There has been some moral ambiguity surrounding Mikey's choices but with each passing issue it becomes more clear that perhaps Mikey hasn't aligned himself with the right side. All together this is another awesome entry in theBirthright series. April can't come soon enough!

Birthright #7

May 15, 2015

Birthright has been a perfect marriage of writing and art to this point. This is one of Image's best series on both fronts and it seems to only be getting better!

Bitch Planet #3

Feb 19, 2015

This was a great, one-shot type break forBitch Planet. Issue #3 provides some substance to the women-in-prison exploitation theme presented in the first two issues while also teaching a positive body image lesson through Penny's experiences.

Bitch Planet #4

May 3, 2015

This issue is another great example in this series of the exploitation film being reimagined as a social justice-oriented comic. Kelly Sue, Valentine, and Cris do an amazing job capturing the violence and sexuality of the exploitation genre while repackaging it as an entertaining propaganda piece promoting gender equality. This is an excellent series so far. The first arc should end with the inmate's first match and it should be interesting to see what twists may occur that they haven't seen coming.

Drifter #5

Mar 30, 2015

This series has an amazingly drawn setting and characters that readers could definitely become invested in. There was a lot going on through this first arc and that may be a great thing if Brandon and Nic can successfully continue these stories. Keep your eyes onDrifter as this is a comic book that could become very exciting, very quickly!

Manifest Destiny #13

Feb 20, 2015

There is a lot to look forward to inManifest Destiny. This book holds a lot of promise for the many story paths that could emerge from the great first two arcs. Given that we still know so little about the arches, the natives, and how Lewis and Clark intend to complete this mission they've been tasked with, you have got to be excited to see where this series goes!

Manifest Destiny #14

Apr 24, 2015

Manifest Destiny is a great series and this issue is no exception. Skybound seemingly can't miss with the comics they are currently producing. It'll be exciting to see just where Dingess is intending to bring us in the next few issues as it seems the ideological splits are becoming larger within the crew and the danger is only becoming more prevalent the deeper into the wilderness that they go.

Nailbiter #10

Feb 4, 2015

It is great to see Finch take the gloves off in the final scene, but unfortunately we will have to wait two months for more (coerced) answers. Next month's issue will be part of the Hack/Slash crossover, which is sure to also be great, but really… we all want to see that Finchinterrogation scene that's been promisedsince the first issue!

ODY-C #3

Feb 27, 2015

Even though the story is not the most original or compelling, this issue is still recommended for Ward's fantasticart. It may not be the most effective way to re-tell The Odyssey, but it is one of the prettiest.

Rat Queens #9

Mar 6, 2015

This issue seemed like it was used as an opportunity to get readers back into the Rat Queens world and show us that Sejic could drawall of our favorite characters. It is great to see Rat Queens back regardless. We will see if Wiebe and Sejic can capture some of the same magic going forward that madeRat Queens one of the most fun comics in Image's lineup.

Rumble #3

Feb 20, 2015

It was a littledifficult to explain why this comic wasso compelling after Issues #1 and #2. There was a lot happening in the first issues, but so little context that the reader had to rely on the art and promise of what could become a great fantasy story. Issue #3 starts the process of fleshing out the Rumble universe, and makes it a little easier to tell others whyRumble is such a good comic.

Rumble #4

Mar 26, 2015

This is a fantastic series heading into its first arc finale. Arcudi's story telling has left so many possibilities for upcoming arcs to explore the many facets of the Rumble universe. You can't help but be excited to see where Rumble heads next.

Star Wars (2014) #3

Mar 12, 2015

This may not be the most excitingStar Wars story ever told, but let's be real, if anything great happened between Episodes IV and V we would have a movie documenting it. This issueis a fun read and part of a solid re-introduction ofStar Wars back into the Marvel Comics fold.

Star Wars: Princess Leia #2

Mar 22, 2015

There is not only strong competition from other comic publishers and Marvel series but also now from other Star Wars series.Princess Leia#2has some problems that keep it from being a great comic, and hopefully it can progress into a series worthy of the title character.

The Autumnlands #5

Mar 26, 2015

The upcoming finale should provide just enough violence too soothe those wondering where the action has been. It will be interesting to see how well Steven's plans, which are hinted at throughout this issue, come into effect in the finale. Overall this was a fantastic issue with new things uncovered during second and third readings. This is a very well-designed comic!

The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl #3

Mar 20, 2015

There is a reason so many writers have wanted to do Squirrel Girl stories since her inception in the early 90's. She is so goofy yet likable, and the possibilities are endless for combining Marvel supervillains with her stories. With Matt Fraction leavingHawkeye,The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl may be the best continuing series from Marvel right now.

The Walking Dead #137

Feb 12, 2015

The Walking Dead is still going strong. Readers who criticize the lack of action need to remember who they are dealing with here. As soon as things get a little too calm, all hell will break loose. The Hilltop is the weak point in Rick's alliance of communities and it looks like that's where things may start unraveling. We'll see soon enough if Jesus, Maggie, and Carl can handle the Hilltop without Rick. Let's just hope that all of this somehow doesn't lead to Negan getting loosebecause then we could be in for a bloodbath as we head towards Issue #150.

The Walking Dead #141

May 14, 2015

This is a deep issue which, because it is so focused on Alexandria, almost makes you forget about Carl being alone with a bunch of weirdos and Maggie almost being assassinated. It does a perfect job of showing you Rick's perception of reality until dashing it all with the unexpectedfinal few pages. Rick is going to be very surprised on his next trip to the Hilltop and I can't wait to read what Kirkman and co. put together next!

Thor (2014) #5

Feb 12, 2015

The feminist tilt this issue took is something that needed to betackled at some point and the fight back against typical fan-boy chatter was a great way to add some levity. The girl-power sentiment from Titania and Freyja was also a nice, feel-good touch for a character who has had to be fairlybrusquethrough issues 1-4to make up for her appearance. We will have to see how far Odin will go to take back Mjolnir before someone has to stand up to him directly. Maybe by the end of this runwe will see Asgard ruled by an All-Mother again!
