"The Autumnlands: Tooth and Claw" #5 is as complete and compelling a transitional tale as I can recall seeing in comics in my time reviewing for CBR. Given that the creative team is essentially an all-star lineup, I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise, but it never ceases to be enjoyable. Now that the conflict is set, I cannot wait to see what Busiek, Dewey, Bellaire, Roshell and Deschesne do once Seven-Scars leads his people into battle. Read Full Review
I cant help but realize that all of this work is for something that, ultimately, is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Goodfoot and the Buffalo Tribe are but minor problems in comparison to Learoyd being stranded in a place utterly foreign to him and a world thats rapidly losing magic. TA:TaC is looking like a series that will run for a long, long time, and if Kurt Busiek can keep the likes of a simple tribe of Bison interesting and threatening, then this comic is going to become an absolute masterpiece when something really devastating happens. In terms of pacing, The Autumnlands has really found its furry and feathered footing. Kurt Busiek's excellent world building pays dividends here in issue #5, the book's various maneuverings reading strong and assured. Read Full Review
Autumnlands #5 was definitely more of a building block type issue; however, what it's building towards is one of Image's strongest and most unique stories in its roster today, which is truly saying something. Bring on issue six. Read Full Review
The upcoming finale should provide just enough violence too soothe those wondering where the action has been. It will be interesting to see how well Steven's plans, which are hinted at throughout this issue, come into effect in the finale.
