Amazing Spider-Man (1999) #689
Jul 8, 2012 |
Verdict: This comic is worth buying for the writing, if not for the art. Then again, it's the second part of what seems to be a definitive three-way showdown between Spider-Man, Morbius and the Lizard – three characters who have had unresolved issues since Amazing Spider-Man #100 – so I think this IS worth following, if only for a sense of closure that has eluded the characters (and the readers) for almost four decades. |

Amazing Spider-Man (1999) #693
Sep 6, 2012 |
Amazing Spider-Man #693is a strong issue that would stand on its own merits were it not part of a multi-issue story arc. It's action-packed and never drags on; it definitely gives you more bang for your buck than other comic books that sometimes feel like “filler” issues. Track this one down and buy it, and watch out for Amazing Spider-Man #694,which sports a cover that features a nice homage to Superman VS The Amazing Spider-Man #1. |

Amazing Spider-Man (1999) #694

All in all, this was a rather underwhelming conclusion to a much-hyped and promising story, and I guess we can just be glad that Slott and Ramos didn't drag it on further. |

Amazing Spider-Man (1999) #695
Oct 3, 2012 |
This issue grips you from start to finish, and is a very good lead-up to the inevitable smackdown between two Goblins. Let's just hope the creative team of Amazing can deliver a story that doesn't end up falling flat (like last issue's “Alpha” conclusion). |

This issue gets a solid 4 web balls from me, and I'm patiently waiting for the last part of this story arc. |

Amazing Spider-Man (1999) #697
Nov 14, 2012 |
An awesome conclusion to an awesome story arc. This is one of the best arcs in Amazing Spider-Man in recent years – even better than Ends of the Earth, in fact. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Peter Parker's out of the REAL danger zone just yet; his troubles just might be starting to get extremely deadly. Bring on Doctor Octopus's (or perhaps Parker's?) Dying Wish! |

My verdict? Get this. It's a nice break from all the stuff going on in Ends of the Earth, and, well, aren't you curious about how the world would be like without our favorite wallcrawler? |

I suggest you go pick it up now – come on, let's read something that ISN'T about Batman or Spider-Man for a change. |

Hawkeye (2012) #1

Hawkeye is definitely a series worth following. It had a strong start, and if the second issue is any indication, it looks like the level of quality that Fraction, Aja and Hollingsworth deliver will be consistent every month. Believe me, if you're not reading this now, you're missing out on a lot. |

Marvel NOW! Point One #1
Oct 22, 2012 |
This is easily the best Point One I've read so far, and is light years ahead of Marvel's last attempt at a Point One in terms of quality. The higher price point may be a bit of a turn-off, but you'd definitely get your money's worth. |

The Avenging Spider-Man #13

Avenging Spider-Man has been a strong title so far, and its winning streak continues here. I'm really glad that this is one of the comic books that make it out of the transition to Marvel NOW! alive. This story definitely scratches my Spidey/DP itch, and while not perfect, it's certainly one of the best so far. |

The third installment of Minimum Carnage isn't as strong as the second, but it's still a fun read, and the ending, which promises a one-on-one brawl between killer symbiote and killer clone, will leave you eagerly anticipating the next part. |
