Amazing Spider-Man (2015) #796 |
Feb 21, 2018 |
Mike Hawthorne's pencil game is pretty solid for most of the book, a little choppy on some backgrounds though. All in all, this issue serves mainly as filler, but the end ramps up what Norman has been doing to himself. Osborn hasn't been this dangerous since Dark Reign. Having already killed Peter around a 100 issues or so ago, it has to be hard for Slott to do something he hasn't already done, but he's been saving Norman for this. We'll see why in "Going Down Swinging". I mean he's not gonna kill him again right? RIGHT? |

Go Go Power Rangers #9 |
May 9, 2018 |
The issue closes with Rangers lamenting on their failure while fearing the future, and Anti-Pink on the brink of forming an alliance that could alter the future even further. The Anti-Pink identity reveal, though cliche, does bring forth another interesting character, which should also lead to another engaging origin story. Small banality aside, issue #9 is another stellar installment that finally starts to get to the nitty-gritty of Shattered Grid(dy) |

New Superman #24 |
Jun 13, 2018 |
An all-Asian cast of characters written by an Asian-American is pretty much unheard of from the big two publishers, so it was nice to see DC do something that was a break from their norm. Even if it wasnt a smash hit monetarily, creatively there was a unique story put out into the world with rich characters that will hopefully be absorbed into the fabric of DCs universe and used for years to come. |

Spider-Man (2016) Annual #1 |
Aug 8, 2018 |
With all due respect to Bendis tremendous work on the character, his character, this kind of insight could only come from someone who has lived with the same obstacles. Hill and Nelson knock this annual out of the park, and should be the #1 candidates to take over the character. |

The Turtles were born as they are. And, Jenny, though a ninja assassin badass, was at the beginning of a budding relationship. It's all very Grimm and Fantastic story-telling |

Abbott #1 |
Jan 24, 2018 |
All in all, a stellar debut by Saladin Ahmed, who has become a comic writer to watch in a relatively short window of time. ABBOTT goes far to cement that status. |

Doomsday Clock #5 |
Jun 6, 2018 |
Albeit riddled with delays from the larger gaps between issues, Johns and Frank continue to weave what looks to be yet another epic tapestry bound to stand the test of time. While the uninitiated may meet the title with ill-informed scrutiny, Doomsday Clock is less of a rip-off of the former and rather more so DCs answer to Watchmen as a story narrative and medium. Even after a near two year break from writing comics, Geoff Johns continues to fire on all cylinders, bringing Rebirth to its ultimate conclusion. |

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2011) #100 |
Dec 11, 2019 |
Waltz and company go out with a Bang in issue 100, which is what you should expect from the best interpretation of the turtles ever produced. Artist/Writer Sophie Campbell will be at the helm next year with issue 101. Itll be interesting to see how she dives into Jennikas character and if she can learn to love being a turtle. The first arc in IDWs TMNT is called Change is constant, and there are deff a lot of changes coming after this issue. Families change, Friends change, Writers change, but you can bet This being a must-have book every issue wont change at all. |
