TMNT #79 continues the battle between the Triceratons and the EPF. As the war wages on the streets of New York City, the Turtles meet with their father to attempt to talk sense into him. Why has Master Splinter sided with Agent Bishop and the EPF? Why will he not at least hear his sons out? Will his mind change in TMNT #79 or has the Foot Clan once again become the Hamato Clan's enemy? TMNT #79 delivers an absolutely superb story that has been slowly building up for the past few years. The writing team should be praised as to what they are doing and what they have done in this series. And Brahm Revel and Ronda Pattison deliver some beautiful art. There is a lot to like in TMNT #79! You have to admire the scope of this latest TMNT storyline, as New York buckles under the weight of an all-out war involving the military, the Triceratons and the Foot Clan. But ignoring all the spectacle, this story works because of the uneasy spot it in which places the Turtles. Read Full Review

Up until now, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has always felt like it was at its best during its more intimate stories. The fourth chapter of "Invasion of the Triceratons" shows that Tom Waltz and company can be just as adept at telling a story about urban warfare. Read Full Review
The story is fun, and the dialogue is good as well; however, the art on this book is not my favorite. Braham Revel's style is weak with lack of details, and this is sometimes a worthy way to tell a story ( Think Hellboy Mike Mignola), but in the case where the majority of the Panels are exposition or dialogue and not action, the style does not lend itself well to this book. I found it harder to interpret and a distraction. Compelling story so I will stick around, but it's my hope that this issue is not your first exposure to the TMNT Universe. Read Full Review

The defining characteristic of IDWs TMNT run has always been, in my opinion, its consistency. So after almost eighty issues, its perhaps understandable that wed eventually hit a low point like this. On the plus side, the whole thing seems to be drawing to a close, which is definitely a welcome prospect at this stage, and the track record of the series still has me excited about what we can expect from it in the future. The artwork is great
I LOVE THIS ART! Why did it take so long to get here? This issue is saving this story arc. Great bits of action and all the Splinter tension is coming to a boil.

slightly better than last month's entry, but not by much.
this arc has been one of the biggest let-downs for me in the entire series.
i never liked what IDW had turned the Triceratons into since the 'Utrom Empire' mini-series, and they only gets let desirable for me within this arc.
the issue starts with more uninteresting focus on April O'Neil's parents and their point of view of what's happening around them. but the "epic" battle for NY feels less like an actual danger, and more like a scripted obstacle for the characters to point their finger at.
the art style was a bit too rough and under-developed for a battle of this scale. for some of the dramatic scenes were fine. but fo more
