This is a very strong transitional issue as we get Black Cat interacting with other members of the Marvel universe she ordinarily wouldn't, all while staying true to her character and snarky attitude. The conversation with her and the AI was a highlight, and we never forget; even with all of the comedy in this issue, it never takes away the fact that the world hangs in the balance. This is a high-stakes mission, and Black Cat handles it the only way she knows how: with luck and nine lives.

As I said, this issue is pedal to the metal and ends abruptly, and I am not saying that is a bad thing. The issue uses the metaphor well to show the many threats and the uncertainty of what Elektra may or may not do with whatever is in this book. Matt is no stranger to playing the long game, so I cannot wait to see how this plays out. As far as everything else, the artwork is gorgeous, and the paneling is perfect, going from the hectic car chases to the the comedic timing of the tracksuit mafia, who are just so useless but think they are the real threat; it's great. Cannot wait to read issue eight!

Overall, this issue moved fast! I wanted more out of the fight scene at the end, though. It felt very flat to me. One shot and this guy is just done. But that was not the endgame here. The more important play was that Bishop is causing an incursion which he should know better if we are being honest. But also, he is wanted back in his own time. Not just because of the incursion apparently but because he is needed for another mission. What is that mission? We shall soon find out.

The penultimate issue breezes by, and as the reader, I feel the danger almost immediately when we go to the island after the Hell Boy recap (Which I genuinely appreciate). I can look at the doctor and tell he is off; I know Smitty is screwed, and Santiago will need backup as soon as possible. The glimmer of hope is that Ghost Leopard and the Devil's Swarm are on the island as well, who I feel will play a crucial role in the final part of this story. I have always loved a good penultimate episode or issue, and for me this delivers. I would highly recommend picking this issue up, as I will be picking up the first two issues and going all the way with this story.

One of the last pages, when the three are on a boat leaving the island and the sun is coming up, the colors work perfectly. As you see the sun coming up and Wintergreen talking about retirement feels like a sign from the heavens that Adeline chooses to ignore. Other than that, this is a strong issue, and if you have been reading this run, I would continue because so many chess pieces are still on the board and it looks like it will have a fun ending.
