This is a strong start to what promises to be a fun series. I can hardly imagine a scenario in which a series featuring Batman and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles did not turn out at least satisfying if not glorious. This is an easy win and Mathew K. Manning and Jon Sommariva did not squander it. This series is fun for the whole family and I am eagerly looking forward to the next issue.

Issue 2 more than fulfills the promise of the first issue. I expect this series to be an epic parade of cameos and team ups from the casts of both shows. This series will definitively answer so many of the "wouldn't it be cool if"" type questions that fans have been talking about for decades. The answer, I expect, will be a resounding "Yes". This series is fun for the whole family and I am eagerly looking forward to the next issue.

In the same way that X-men comics in the 60's were an allegory of the Jews during World War II, Black is a modern day representation of artistic activism. Honestly, I am not sure if I am prepared to keep reading. I don't know if I am ready to see the world the Black is trying to show me. Before I can read the next issue I will be sure to take a long hard look at the cover and decide whether I really want to know what Black is trying to tell me.

Despite some inherent weaknesses Bloodshot USA #1 is a strong first issue due to Lemire's writing and Braithwaite's art. It promises even bigger and better things to come. Now that Lemire has done the heady work of catching all of us late comers to the Valiant Universe I expect him to cut loose and give us a very satisfying series. This is your entry point folks. Last call. All aboard. Next stop NIRVANA.

Bloodshot USA has earned a permanent spot on my pull list barring a meltdown of epic proportions. I am really looking forward to watching this story unfold and am willing to forgive Lemire for keeping the story rolling. Valiant keeps the hits coming.

It is a fun end to a fun mini-series. Those that have an affinity or history with D&D will enjoy it bit more than general fantasy buffs. The art, while not ground-breaking, is beautiful and engaging. This book is worth the price of admission and piqued my interest in the previous adventures of this motley band from Baldur's Gate.

Full disclosure: Nostalgia for the days of late night gaming sessions in a friend's garage fueled by Mountain Dew and Doritos may have colored this review a bit. That being said, I enjoyed this book thoroughly and the last panel has me itching for the next issue. I am all in on Dungeons & Dragons: Frost Giant's Fury.

Generation Zero is a cool series. If somebody pitched me a series that was like the A Team, 21 Jump Street and Stranger Things rolled into one I would tell them they are going to need one helluva writer to make it work. It appears Generation Zero found just such a writer and an equally talented artist to boot. This has definitely been added to my pull list.

Generation Zero keeps getting better and better. Right now this is my favorite of new Valiant series for a few reasons. First, the layered conflicts that range from the city wide conspiracy of Keisha's boyfriend's death, to family tension, to questions of personal identity. This is the kind of story that elevates comics as a whole. Second, the art has been spot on. Portela, whether he is showing us action, emotion or exposition is just killing it on every panel. Third is this unique and charming cast of characters. I just want to know more about Keisha, Kwame, Chronos et al. This group of breakfast club style misfits has me hooked. Bring on issue #5.

Of all of the new Valiant titles this is the one I look forward to because of the well devised mystery, interesting characters and beautiful art. If you have heard of Valiant and want to know where to start Generation Zero is my recommendation.

If you are looking for something different, are aching to add some diversity to your pull list or are a fan of graffiti and lowriders this comic book is for you. If you are curios to sneak a peek into a barrio filled with characters written with heart and authenticity add this to your pull list. This book is worth the price of admission for the art alone. Come hang out for a little while with Hollywood and his crew from Barro Quin Sabe. You won't regret it.

This promises to be a very ambitious series with some neat ideas and a well-built universe. This issue has a ton of exposition but this is not going to be the type of story in which you can casually skip an issue without being completely lost. Understanding this world, its technology and its politics I believe is going to be key to appreciating the story. This is not a casual comic book reader's book. I believe this is a story that if you are willing to invest the brainpower to keep up it will be very rewarding.

If you are middle-aged and picking this up for nostalgia's sake and go into this comic book series with the calibrated expectations you will enjoy it. It is everything you liked in the original TV series minus the mom shorts and with more menacing villains. This book is great for the tween target audience and is something that can be a shared interest for a middle aged parent and their kids.

I highly recommend this graphic novel but please, when you read it, take your time. Explore each beautiful page that Colleen Doran has created, especially while the main character is young and the world is full of hope and fancy. His youth may seem whimsical but like everyone's it is gone too soon. And trust me, that feeling of solemn self-reflection afterword, it's perfectly normal.

Slam! #1 is a strong start to a fresh new series that I highly recommend. I had no idea what to expect when I offered to review this book but was excited at my first glance at the cover. Every panel's art and story lived up to the promise emblazoned there. I am excited for where this book is heading. There may be a hint or two on the first panel; Skate Fast, Skate Hard, Turn Left.

I am generally a fan of comic books of the superhero variety and mostly of the big two publishers (though I have been branching out). This is the book I look forward to the most right now. If I could recommend just one new book from a smaller publisher it would be Slam! This book is beautiful, honest, and compelling. Reading this book I can't help but want to join a Roller Derby team myself. I don't think there are any slots for a balding, middle aged, family man but if anyone has any leads shoot me an email.

This is a comic book worth picking up whether you are young or old, male or female, interested in roller derby or never even heard of it. This book is transcendent in a way that few are. Excellent writing and art is like that, and this book is an example of both. I am primarily a reader of the comics of the superhero persuasion, but this book is the one I look forward to the most each month. Slam! has my highest recommendation.

This book is an interesting read that puts together a story with a number of interesting layers that makes it difficult to characterize. It is not a romantic comedy, though those elements are there. It's not a mystery but again those elements are there too. Maybe that too is a statement about the generation this book represents. This comic book will not be classified or put in a box. It will dare you totry to, as soon as you do, it will defy your expectations.

The current arc is slower, more deliberate and ultimately, it is probably necessary. It is a lull in the action that is providing some interesting new ideas about the world and is building anticipation for the return of the ultra-violence and the perverse beauty of the Spread. Keep faith and read on. Justin Jordan has promised answers to some of the questions about the world and the Spread in coming issues. That, plus No being back on his feet and the knowledge that Strahm will return is enough for me. If the last panel of the issue is any indication, our patience is about to be rewarded in the very next issue.

When compared to the early issues the latest story arc is disappointing. It is not a bad series and perhaps I am being a bit hard on it. High expectations are difficult demons to exercise. This series has potential even in a genre that currently is saturated to the point of bursting. I am looking forward to Kyle Straham's return to the series in January 2017. Hopefully, my patience will be rewarded.

For readers interested in picking up there first Tank Girl book, I ask that you please pass on this one. It is not a great representation of Tank Girl's vulgar charm. For established fans, it's worth the price of admission to stay current on the ongoing story arc. It is the equivalent of methadone while you wait for the next big fix.
