This combo of Templesmith and Straczynski is really turning out to be a diamond in the rough. Image Comics has a ton of great comic book series out there and I think this one is being left in the shadows, where it fits just nicely. I hope this book takes a twist I dont see coming. So if you are a fan of crime noirs with a supernatural twist than I think you will enjoy this book.

This comic isnt full of action packed scenes. It draws you in with describing this alternate world and the beings that inhabit it. Death is coming but at what cost and can anyone survive Death? This is one question I had after reading issue #2. Yes I am still a little confused what is the overall picture but hey like I said this could be a good, good thing. I will say this issue is slower paced than the first issue and draws me in more since I keep coming up with questions. Im not sold that this is the next great creator owned series. It has potential and I will keep reading to see where Hickman and Dragotta take this. I feel it is on the verge of something wonderful and large. Now bring me East of West #3 so I can dive farther into this rabbit hole Mr. Hickman is constructing.

I still love Riley Rossmos work in Bedlam. He portrays the madness of scenes very well. Yes you can say sometimes that the panels might be a little confusing but, to me, that enhances this story. This story needs a chaotic style of artwork to it. Rossmo delivers on that, but he wont be on this title for much longer. He and Nick Spencer were at a creative crossroads so he decided to leave this book. Issue #6 is the last issue he illustrates for Bedlam. Who will be taking over you ask? Ryan Browne, who has done covers for Hoax Hunters and Hack/Slash. His style seems a little crisper than Rossmos. Im not sure how this change will affect the book; we will have to wait til issue #7 to find out. As much as I love the art work of Rossmo on this series, I know I cant wait to see where this series goes no matter who the artist is. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with some bloody twists, I suggest you pick up Bedlam next time you are at your local comic book store.

Overall I would say this is a good read for any G.I. Joe fan or someone wanting to check out a new comic book. If you like military style action with a new twist then G.I. Joe #1 might be right up your alley. Now I do understand some old time fans of G.I. Joe might not like the tone of this book but it can be overlooked if you really think about it. This series is like anything else that is being reborn, IDW brings us a new look and a new start to the Joes.

This movie adaptation really surprised me and was overall well done. If you are a fan of Tarantino movies then this might become a must read for you. But if you don't want to be spoiled to Django Unchained the movie, than I would say read this after you see the movie next week.
