Overall, ALL-STAR BATMAN #1 is off to a rock-solid start. So far, Snyder has stayed true to Batman, which is more than we might be able to say for Frank Miller in ALL-STAR BATMAN AND ROBIN. With an original concept and a novel execution from Scott Snyder, and stellar art from both teams, this is a book that you won't want to miss. Keep an eye out for issue #2 of ALL-STAR BATMAN!

In all, this first issue was an excellent way to kick off the new BATMAN series. The art was spectacular and made me fly through the book. The writing nailed the old characters and gave us just enough of something new to get me very excited about what's coming up. Even better, this issue stands well on its own; it has a self-contained plot that is extremely action-packed and hits on some of the common elements of Batman. These familiar elements should be pleasing to longtime fans, but the book doesn't shy away from changing things up just a bit. Tom King is here, and just like Batman, he's trying “something new.”

As a chapter in the overall story, this issue serves well to show the foil characters of Batman and Gotham, setting up for a future conflict. As a standalone issue, this is one of the less exciting issues of Batman that I've read. Those of you who have been following the story will definitely want to pick it up, and if you haven't been, you'll want to catch up before reading issue four.

Overall, the plot of this book gives us a satisfying conclusion to Gotham's arc. It is action-packed, explosive, and filled with great jaw-dropping moments. There's some fantastic character development of Alfred, Batman, Duke, and Gotham Girl. Of course, as always, the art is spectacular, helping make this a gorgeous and fun read. If you haven't read issues 1-4, you totally should, but you'll have a lot of fun reading #5 even if you haven't.

If you're looking for Batman punching and kicking supervillains, this issue isn't for you. But if you're looking for a comic that will connect with you, a comic that deals with the mature topics of grief and depression (and what that can mean to a superhero), then this is a title you cannot miss. It's my personal favorite of the series so far, if only for the scene between Batman and Gotham Girl. It's a moment that I can't spoil for you; you'll just have to pick it up and read it. You won't regret it.

As stated previously, this is the first issue kicking off a crossover event for DC's Bat-Family, so if you want the full story, you'll need to do a bit of shopping to get all the chapters. The second part of this story is in NIGHTWING this week, so be sure to check it out if you don't want to miss anything!

It's a great issue to continue the series, but there's little in the way of action. If you've been following the series, you'll definitely want to pick this up; if you're looking for an exciting issue that stands on its own, then this isn't your book.

The issue ends on a pretty shocking note in any case, and in combination with the gory severed-hand scene, as well as some pretty excellent dialogue (the rant from the grocery store owner was particularly entertaining), this is a pretty great issue overall. In terms of plot, not a lot happens, but there are a few interesting developments that make the issue a fun read. I have a feeling that issue 3 will provide a few more revelations for us with Trip and his friends, as they still have yet to vacate the grocery store. How they'll do so and when is anyone's guess.

Overall, this comic has a bit of a rough time with all the recent changes to the DC Universe. It's trying to establish a whole new status quo, which is quite a challenge. As such, this issue feels very expositional and has little action to it. Despite solid writing and art, there isn't a whole lot of excitement in the issue to be found. If you like shows like Law and Order, then this might be up your alley, however, fans of the typical Batman story are likely to feel a little let down.

It's been proven once again that Batman can be trusted in the hands of James Tynion IV. This team is on a roll here, with back-to-back stellar issues. Make sure you pick up the rest of this storyline to see how this family feud unfolds!

This issue is as fun as any other and may be the best of Tynion's run so far. With great character development, a really fun and action-packed plot, and spectacular art, DETECTIVE COMICS continues to be a treat every other week. Pick up a copy today to catch all of the Red Robin, Spoiler, Orphan, Batwoman, Batman, and Clayface action!

The bottom line is the same as it's been for the whole run: the book is fantastic. While this issue wasn't packed with action, it was filled with great characterization and important plot points that will clearly have an impact going forward. What the impact will be remains to be seen, but I recommend coming along for the ride. The art is always high quality, and the writing is compelling. For some of the coolest things to appear in DETECTIVE COMICS, you need to read this story arc. You won't regret it.

An emotionally-charged issue with great writing and solid art. A little action, and a lot of crying make for an impactful issue and great end to a story arc!

Nonetheless, there is a lot of action and a great ending with some shocking implications for the future of this story arc. It's an enjoyable read on its own, and it makes a great chapter in this crossover so far. The story is a bit more fantastic than Batman fans might be used to, but it's turning out to be a very fun rollercoaster ride.

This is not a perfect book, but it is nonetheless a lot of fun. It stands on its own better than most of the other titles, though first time readers may feel a little confused. However, this is a title where I feel that Double Take has begun to really add meaning and value beyond entertainment. This is a title on which they are not afraid to experiment, take risks, and try new things. For that alone, REMOTE #3 should be on any zombie fan's reading list.

As a whole, this is a huge step forward for this series. REMOTE is blowing up. If you're a fan of Samantha Stanton,you can't miss this issue. We finally get some answers to questions that have been building, and the ending is so satisfying. It'll definitely bring you back for issue 5.

RISE #2 from Double Take steps up the game for the upcoming third issues and leaves a very satisfied feeling for those who have been following the outbreak from the beginning.

As with all Double Take titles, the time and place of the events of the comic are given in the beginning of the book, so if you're trying to put the titles in a chronological order, you can do so. Enjoy whatever order you choose to read it- the universe is developing quite nicely.
