Thunderbolts (2012) #1

Dec 8, 2012

Thunderbolts might sound like Uncanny X-Force but when the X-Force does their dirty work, they do it covertly. Not the Thunderbolts. It’s going to be loud and proud like a Michael Bay movie. If the Thunderbolts were to come kicking down my door, I wouldn’t be too upset. I’m optimistic to read more as this was all just set-up so hopefully Way can give us a great story with a memorable team.

Thunderbolts (2012) #3

Jan 12, 2013

Thunderbolts began on a much slower start than expected but this issue was a bit more eventful. The introduction of a super villain and the tension that’s about to occur may be the fire that this series needs. And with Noto coming on board later, we can hope for more unity with the writing, exterior and interior artwork.

Bedlam #3

Jan 23, 2013

I think it’s safe to say that new readers can pick up issue three without reading the previous issues. I say this because the other two issues made you think Joker but issue three does a good job of straying readers from that notion. Nick Spencer and his team have picked up and developed an intriguing plot within Bedlam #3. If you have a taste for horror, Bedlam #3 feeds it to you in well-served portions of the delightfully disturbing and creepy without overfeeding. I do and I’m ready for another serving.

Gambit (2012) #4

Oct 24, 2012

Gambit has always been a fan favorite from the x-men and I'm glad that he's getting more comic book face time. Something about those eyes and that smile that you just can't help but wonder what else is going on in that Cajun's mind" looks like (and one can hope!) we'll get that chance and more with this series. Overall this issue was nice fun and I'll definitely be sticking with it to find out where it goes from here.

Scarlet Spider #13

Jan 12, 2013

The arrival of ‘The Wolves’ sets this arc nicely for a heavier tone with a feeling that some mystic forces may come to play. The pace didn’t falter and there were no extra unnecessary portions. There’s also a great fight scene that keeps you on the edge of your seat and then by the end of the issue, you want more. There is suddenly an air of imminent danger and it’s been an enjoyable series so far. As Yost delves deeper into Kaine’s struggles to become a man, he has fun challenging himself with the question “What is Kaine capable of?” All I know now is that Kaine is more than just a killer.

Zero #9

Jul 24, 2014

While initially lacking some thrill, Zero #9 makes up for in art and for turning out to be a very important piece to the overall big picture.

Punk Rock Jesus #5

Nov 16, 2012

I can go on and on about how awesome Punk Rock Jesus is. It is plentiful in substance but this is a miniseries that I suggest you just read yourself. So, what are you waiting for? It’s not too late! Go on and up the punk because I wouldn't want you to be missing out on what I honestly think is one of the best and controversial comics of the year.
