Cheryl Blossom's unleashed on Riverdale, creating chaos and tumult at her whim! Only Veronica can stop her - but how will she get back from her Swiss boarding school in time to save her friends?
Overall this is a funny issue. When Archie is on his way to meet Cheryl, he's in a molasses barrel that's rolling down a hill. We get no context of how or why, but it's there. And frankly it's so absurd it works. I'm glad the character has fundamentally stayed the same since the reboot, it's like coming back to your home after it's been remodelled. Read Full Review
Archie #17 is a nice way to wrap up these past few issues about Cheryl Blossom. She's landed in town and even if she loses this battle she's certainly not done being a trickster. Right now her brother isn't given much to do but be her sidekick but I am hoping that changes in future stories. The last few pages talk about the Riverdale TV show and offers a nice character guide. I must lament the loss of the classic Archie stories that usually ended these issues previously but alas, this trend is no more. Either way, a very good read that I recommend to fans and certainly not an issue to skip. Read Full Review
Even though it occasionally hits on some real teen/young people concerns, like how long is too long to wait to text someone back if you're romantically interested in them,Archie#17 is mostly stylized wackinessfrom Mark Waid, Joe Eisma, and Andre Szymanowicz, who uses some overpowering reds in Cheryl Blossom's scenes. It's pure comedic melodramatic fun. Read Full Review
'Archie' #17 finds Cheryl in Riverdale trying to seduce Archie to get back at Veronica. It's a fun twisty romp full of melodrama and laughs. Waid and Eisma continue making Archie relevant in 2017 and worth every penny. Read Full Review

While the extended bout of courtship has its amusing moments"Jug Handle is as perfect a Blossomization as could be"the initial lack of teeth leaves the read feeling light, right up until the book's final page. Read Full Review
Sometimes you need a villain. And thank god we have Cheryl to spice things up a bit.
This issue reminds me a lot of classic Archie stories with it's little touches: Cheryl and Jason pushing people of bikes and kicking the change away from hoboes, Archie rolling down a hill in a barrel of molasses with no explanation...it's silly fun.
Consistently good.
Cheryl Blossom has arrived in Riverdale and she is there to take down Veronica… By seducing Archie?
Her plan is elaborate and well planned, until it actually comes time to talk to Archie. And then she can’t go through with it. And just as Veronica arrives to save the day. Ronnie has been working hard at boarding school in order to get back to Riverdale in time to save Archie from Cheryl’s seduction.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read Archie comics and I don’t remember if I was rolling my eyes as much when I was a kid. But I’m willing to pick up the next couple issues and see what there it. I picked up this issue on a whim and it’s a fun read.
