The first issue is all set-up as the characters get from Earth to Mongo, but I dont know what direction Deneen will take once they land on the planet, so I cant say if this is the start of a series that will last for year. I can say that I enjoyed the first issue enough that I will pick up at least the next two to see what happens next. Im giving Flash (a-ah) Gordon #1 3.5 out of 5 Stars. Had the coloring been a little better, and had the first issuevillain not been so plainly revealed, it would have scored higher. Read Full Review
Although I wasn't blown away by this first issue I was entertained and given enough of a taste to want more. Here's hoping this version of Flash Gordon stays around awhile. Read Full Review
The story contained within this issue has a degree of attempting to find charm, but it, unfortunately, has a largely side dish of really distracting points, like the handgun that fires off a report of "FOOM". All in all, this incarnation of "Flash Gordon" leaves me a little flat. I'd read the next issue if I didn't have to pay for it, but if I'm paying, it would depend on the new comic competition on the stands. Right now, it doesn't stack up very well. Maybe it will, once Flash himself is allowed to truly take command of the title. Read Full Review
