The Killer: Affairs of the State #1 is a fantastic start to the latest volume that'll have you contemplating its layers. A contract killer is forced to work a “soul sucking” job that's “worse than death” while plotting to kill someone else. There's something there about positions and roles one has and later the system as a whole that we're a part of. If you enjoy action and adventure that Bond brings but not a fan of its imperialist tendances, this is the series to get. Read Full Review
The Killer himself falls in line with many a charismatic assassin that have come before him. It's a familiar mold, but Matz's narrative via Gauvin's translations keep things interesting, and Jacamon's artwork is truly stunning. As a stand-alone thriller, there's a lot you can sink your teeth into but as a neophyte to the world, there is much a history that is missing. Still, The Killers: Affairs of the State #1 manages to do its job incredibly well, both making me curious about the original series and staging an interesting narrative here. Read Full Review

Overall, I am hugely disappointed with this first issue. I have been looking forward to reading The Killer: Affairs Of The State #1 for review for some time and I wanted to like it so badly! Unfortunately, this first issue let me down. Hopefully the series can pick up and improve in quality through the rest of its six-issue run. Read Full Review
