Its absolutely nerve racking to wait for this final issue and hopefully getting some of those answers, but its (finally) almost here. This entire team has produced a magnificent mini-series thus far, so all thats left is to bring it home in one issue thats sure to top all the rest. If you missed out on this BOOM! If you haven't been reading Translucid, I wouldn't say this is a good spot to jump on by any means. You're only one issue away from the end, so at this point, you're better off trade-waiting. But know this: you have been missing out on a pure visual joy with a lot of salient points about superheroics in the mix. If Alan Moore was to try and tackle a Watchmen-style deconstruction of the genre in 2014, he might latch onto the Batman/Joker dynamic and make something similar to this. I have seen negative reviews for the series, and I cannot understand why. This is a superb book. Those citing it as too complex or hard to understand seemingly lack the intelligence to follow a very well written and drawn story that leaves enough to your own interpretation. The take on hero and villain relationships have never been as beautifully complex or engaging as they are here, and it has been quite some time since I read anything as rich in characterization or these relationships. The best issue in the series yet and another fantastic mini from Boom! Studios overall. This is not a book you should read: it is a book you MUST read. Read Full Review
Translucid #5 doesnt fundamentally change things up or answer any questions in earnest. Its probably saving all of those juicy secrets for Issue #6, but regardless, its a great read from start to finish.
