A little girl taking shelter from the end of the world with a mysterious Mexican death cult turns to Abe for protection.
Abe Sapien finally hits the right marks with me in this issue. While the larger story hasn't truly progressed, the introduction of Megan breathes new life into the series and adds a perspective and voice that I think it needs. I don't know if this is a just a blip or a turning point, but I hope it's the latter, as I really want to like this series more than I currently do. Read Full Review
While this issue of Abe Sapien might not have been an action-packed issue, it certainly was full of deep, ominous foreshadowing and it felt like a little breather before what comes next which, thanks to the cliff hanger, is going to be insane. Time after time, Abe Sapien impresses and this issue is no exception. In a line-up full of great books, this is easily one of the best, so if youre not picking this up youre missing out. So this is where I find myself. I liked the issue. I really liked Megan. I wish we'd seen more of her sooner. But the pacing threw me a bit, and there are some things that could have been played tighter and punchier. Read Full Review
This is probably a more successful filler story than Goon. However this will get a lesser score because Goon does almost as good a job while also setting up conflict. At the end of the issue we get a hint of conflict but not really greater story driving content. The conflict for next issue is going to be brief and probably more serve to drive the two characters back to the group of supporting characters we get a glimpse of. It's a good issue and if you're curious about Abe Sapien then this could serve as a good first issue for you but it looks like it might be one more issue before we get back to the main plot which kills the momentum a little for me. Another bore in this soap opera side-story of B.P.R.D. Not sure where this is going. The whole issue was Abe talking to a young girl. It was nice to see a young person's perspective of the monster fallout but it not something we haven't seen in almost every post-apocalypse tale. The issue ends on a shameless monsters-in-the-background-coming-to-get-the-main-characters-without-them-knowing cliffhanger.
