Keeping a baby xenomorph alive, even in a frozen state, contradicts all the survival instincts that Zula and Hollis have. But by studying the alien in cryostasis, Davis believes he can discover how to exterminate it and the rest of its forsaken, vile race permanently. Is he dooming the mission in the name of science?

The art by Stephen Thompson is solid and creates a believable atmosphere of dread. Even if some of it repeats itself as the issue continues it works to bolster the level of fear, as things begin to worsen. Read Full Review

Aliens: Defiance is coming out amid a very good time to be a fan of the property as the sprawling Life and Death cycle is doing well, a new film next year, and just a general upswing in quality all around. Defiance is a big part of my enjoyment of what's going on and even a quiet installment like this adds a whole lot. Wood is building these characters well and getting as much time as we do here in seeing Zula's past and how she ended up in the military was great, especially since it let Brescini spread his skills a bit outside of the cold confines of the ship and the xenomorphs a bit. Definitely another solid installment. Read Full Review

Aliens: Defiance #8 is one of those bridge issues, the kind where we take a break from action and mayhem to regroup, get our bearings, and maybe talk some back story. Despite my not loving this particular issue it's still a solid installment in what has been a great series, and one that I hope will run for quite some time. If you like the Aliens franchise haven't read this series yet, I'd encourage you to do so as you can now find the first collected trade. Although this may not be the best single issue, this series has become one of my favorite Aliens stories and that's saying a lot. Read Full Review

    AIPT - Nick Nafpliotis Dec 27, 2016

Aliens: Defiance #8 isn't a bad issue by any means. But a series this good shouldn't need to waste most of its pages on something that won't even matter by the last one. Heck, I would have rather gotten a full issue of Hendricks' backstory, especially since what we did see was so good. As it stands, however, the issue ends up being comparatively weak chapter in an otherwise superb series. Read Full Review
