Niles and Wachter paced this series perfectly, and this last issue was as great an ending a reader could ask for in a miniseries. Though many readers will no doubt be left wishing there was more, the story really did come full circle in a beautiful way. At times haunting and melancholy, and other times spirited and heartwarming, Breath of Bones was poignant to the last panel. The last words by Niles really stick with you. This book cannot be pigeonholed to any specific genre, and it should be read by any reader looking for quality storytelling. Read Full Review
The creative team behind Breath of Bones had a tricky challenge on their hands when they first launched this title. Out of all the varied directions they could have taken this book, they landed in a perfect place: a horror story where Nazi's are the real monsters, the townsfolk are the real heroes. It's a masterfully crafted tour de force that does a brilliant job of showcasing both the emotional and intellectual strength of the comics medium where both word and visual collide to create a truly compelling story unlike any other. Yeah, it's over quite quickly, and I don't remember, or perhaps we never find out which country we find ourselves in, but who cares?! You get a giant mud man killing Nazis. And it's surprisingly emotional considering this could have easily just been campy fun, with no substance. It's a fast read, so go pick up the series if you're a fan of throwback, black and white comics with giant monsters. Read Full Review
Breath of Bones: A Tale of the Golem was a terrific read. The comics offered a fresh take on good triumphing over an evil symbolized by the swastika. The story picked up tremendous steam in the second installment and the final issue offers a completely satisfying ending.
