Devin McKenzie is an insomniac librarian with a knack for solving puzzles. The Answer! is a masked crime fighter with a giant exclamation point on his face. Aside from a penchant for late nights, they share nothing in common . . . until both become embroiled in a deadly mystery surrounding a sinister motivational speaker!
The Answer! promises to be a great new story by Hopeless and Norton. The duo seems to have an interesting story to tell and it will be worth watching to see if they keep it from being predictable. I think Hopeless and Dent will surprise readers with this one. A solid story with great art makes this one to be on the lookout for. Read Full Review
Lately, Dark Horse has been working hard to reclaim the title of #1 third-party publisher from the usurping Image Comics, and “The Answer” only adds more fuel to the fire. Denis Hopeless and Mike Norton have crafted a superhero tale that we can buy simply because it's great, rather than because we feel obligated to keeping up with continuity, and I can't thank them enough for it. “The Answer” #1 is devilishly clever, and sure to leave you wanting for more. It's still early days for this four-part mini-series, so we'll have to see how the story develops, but there are enough unAnswer!ed questions in this book to keep me hooked, like what Apeiron truly is and what their connection is to Devin and The Answer! This issue also ends pretty shockingly, making you question the nature of The Answer!, himself. So yeah, I am all kinds of on-board for sticking with this book and recommend it for anyone looking for ten pounds of comic book fun stuffed into a great looking five pound sack. Read Full Review
The Answer #1 has me hooked for the next few. And it's more fun if you imagine Exclamation Point Man's punches make the same sound that exclamations points used to make on The Electric Company. Read Full Review
The first issue to me is good, didn't blow me away, but it's a fun entry into the crime fighter noirish genre. I have a feeling when taken as a whole, the series will be much better than the individual parts. I was hoping to be blown away or at least hooked enough by this first issue. While I liked it, can't say I'm uber excited for the second. Read Full Review
With Dark Horse & Image producing so many mini series out there, it’s hard to decide what to get and what not to get. For what its worth, I recommend this comic, but don’t expect the second coming of The Dark Knight Returns or Watchmen. Read Full Review
There is enough here to prove interesting, but I think it's going to take more than "The Answer!" #1 to solve the question of whether this is a very good story or simply another comic book starring Generic Man. The Answer hasn't given much to identify with, but this comic is fun. Read Full Review
The Answer! #1 does a lot of things very right. Put the readers right into the action as soon as they open the comic. Invest readers in the characters. Give meaning to the conflict and enough mystery to intrigue readers into the next issue. Do all of that with great looking art and you've got a great comic. Unfortunately, there isn't much about this comic to set it apart from many other super hero books, besides Answer!'s audacious attitude. That being said, if you're looking for a good creator-owned super hero comic, this is a good enough issue to invest in. Read Full Review
Artistic concerns aside, The Answer! has just enough mystery and interesting character work to keep my investing in the next issue. If Norton can bring the same attention and excitement he used on Devin to the rest of Issue #2, then we just might have a real winner on our hands here. Read Full Review
