Azrael seeks to fill the void left by Batman's absence and redeem his tainted legacy, but the League of Assassins wants the suit for Talia and her own heir to The Dark Knight's mantle. And through it all, someone watches, waiting to snatch the prize from the winner.
All nitpicking aside, Azrael: Death's Dark Knight is still an enjoyable comic. I just hope the lead character starts acting more like the tormented soul he is rather than some carefree adventurer. Read Full Review
If you are looking to get a complete view of all that is happening during the Battle for the Cowl storyline, you could certainly do worse than this issue of Azrael. This story is surprisingly interesting for a concept I care little about, and is worth checking out for, perhaps, only the most loyal Batman fans. Read Full Review
Overall, what is DC going to do with this Azrael once Nightwing takes over as Batman at the end of this silly Battle for the Cowl business? Based on this mini-series, I dont think that this Azrael will have the depth to carry an ongoing series but, admittedly, an ongoing series might just be whats needed to expand and give Michael Lane/Azrael a chance to develop as a character.
