Without any real weak stories this month, Black and White #4 also boasts a Mad Hatter and Penguin tale from Michael and Lee Allred where Cobblepot attempts to out-wit both the Hatter and the Dark Knight Detective (which features Micahel Allred's trademark smooth but quirky style), Dustin Nguyen does double duty writing and illustrating an average night for Batman in Gotham City ending with an appearance by Catwoman, Nathan Edmondson and Kenneth Rocafort offer up a tale of Batman taking on an invisible enemy, and David Macho and Rubn Pellejero deliver a tale of Batman getting the help of a homeless veteran (and his pet rat) to take down Killer Croc. Part 4 is an enjoyable addition to the Black and White catalog. Shorts like Long Day and Tea-Minus Party definitely deserve repeat readings and every page of artwork in this collection is terrific and worth a second glance. Read Full Review

Overall this comic was nothing more than good art. None of the stories were particularly excellent and as a whole the miniseries has started to diminish in quality. The Amanda Conner cover comes close to being the best thing of the issue. I didn't hate it but with five stories I would have liked to enjoy at least three of them. I was only into the Dustin Nguyen story and Tea " Minus Party. I can only hope that the next batch of creators does a better job. Read Full Review

Other than Nguyen's piece, everything else falls flat. Michael Allred's story needs color in a big, big way. Also, it features Batman letting a group of brain washed dudes die in an explosion. Nathan Edmondson's story ends in a cliffhanger. Sean Galloway and Derek Laufman's piece is really close to being good, but the art is hard to follow and the story is kinda generic. The point is, you might want to skip this issue of Batman: Black and White. It's a mess. Read Full Review
