    This is getting such a high score because not only is it a good book with an engaging story about Gordon's past and weaving in Barbara for the first time in (my reading order's) continuity, it showcases an African-American character with two moms, cops using racist dog whistles to hide their true words and feelings about the black community in Chicago all while being written in 2002. Ostrander has always flown under the radar in popularity and it's a shame because this is a really good story whose relevance is just as important back in the day as it is now.
