This finale isn't perfect, but Marc Andreyko hits almost all the right notes to give Kate Kane the sendoff she deserves. Maybe turning this book into an action packed team based book wasn't what a lot of people wanted, but I enjoyed it for the thrill ride it was. Andreyko does the best he can with the limited space available here, and to an extent this issue leaves Kate in a better place than she has been in recent months. The best thing to do now is let the character rest for a while and come back stronger. Read Full Review
This issue is a mixed bag for me. On its own it was and exciting issue with several fights and planning and saving the day. The problem I have is that this takes place right after the first issue of this arc five to six months in real time later. I did not remember the details of the issue after trudging through the six issues in between that was an extended flashback. I understand creative story telling however with this large of a gap I do not think that this works. I had to dig out issue #35 and skim it to see what happened to Etrigan in space and how was he separated from the others. I also had to review the Red Alice situation and the fact that in order to save her, Ragman had to snatch her soul as he would do an unrepentant villain. Read Full Review
"Batwoman Annual" #2 feels like it's struggling to the finish line with a conclusion that has lost a lot of its energy and punch. Kudos go to a strong final page script from Andreyko, but it doesn't change the fact that this was a storyline that had slowly picked up some real steam and then lost it all at the conclusion. I'm more than willing to write this off as a problem with the book's cancellation, but it doesn't change the fact that, with the uneven art, it's a disappointing final note for a great character. The creative team ties a bow on this book with a schmaltzy closing bit, but any good will for this title has long been spent already, and any attempts to salvage the emotional core of the title comes across like putting lipstick on a pig. Read Full Review
