What I didn't like: Last issue ended with the preview of one word "SHIVA!" who never even appears or gets mentioned in this issue. Dinah seems a bit too willing to abandon her home and friends to go off with this madwoman she barely knows who is a confessed murderer and recent near lethal adversary. I presume we'll hear either “Shiva must be stopped” or “I was protecting you guys” as a justification, but still… I think Zinda is fighting out of her league here. Even Huntress comments that Zinda is a great bar room brawler, but she is holding her own way too well. Dinah doesn't actually threaten her friends, but the costume change is just a bit disturbing to me. I wonder if she's just sort of in emotional shock between her marriage ending, Roy's maiming, and her ID being made public. And we STILL have no explanation about the whole "Avatars of War and Peace" bit for Hawk and Dove. Read Full Review
It's not all bad. Reminding us she reached superstar status by writing these various characters, Simone does a wonderful job capturing the unique personalities of Huntress, Lady Blackhawk and Oracle. There are even a few genuinely funny moments that remind you of Simone's trademark sense of humor. The main problem with Simone's script is that the various stories never feel at home next to one another, a problem that's only heightened by the different artistic styles of pencillers Alvin Lee and Adriana Melo. The poor quality of art is once again what really sinks this issue to disappointingly low levels, and I can only assume that will remain the case until this book gets one talented artist behind the wheel. Okay this issue is a bit off, but then as I've said many times before, an off month of Birds of Prey is better than most comics out there. Read Full Review
I've enjoyed "Birds of Prey" up until now, but at a point where I think the book could benefit from slowing down a tiny bit and letting the readers relax, it seems to have done the exact opposite. Considering this two-part story seems to be trying Read Full Review
This issue is definitely not what I was expecting. Gail Simone's writing is nowhere near the level of quality that she is known for, with poor pacing and uneven plotting standing out as the major issues. When you add in some wildly inconsistent art, you get an issue that simply does not live up to the high standards that Birds of Prey has set for itself. There are a few shining moments that will remind you why this book is normally so awesome, but for the most part, this one misses the mark. Read Full Review
