Overall, there's far more good than bad to be had in these stories, with some of the stories being particularly engaging and enjoyable. You're getting a lot here for the price, as two regular-sized issues would provide similar page count but for $1 more. If you were a huge fan of Blackest Night, I definitely recommend picking this issue up, but if you weren't a huge fan, or were happy that it finally ended, you might want to avoid this one, it probably won't be as enjoyable to you as a reader. This isn't must-read material by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a nice return to some elements of a story that thrilled fans over the past year. There are a few surprises, a few disappointments, and a few worthy additions to the canon of "Blackest Night." I, personally, would encourage DC to consider revisiting this era every year about this time. This issue is definitely more treat than trick. Read Full Review

If you're a die hard Blackest Night fan, Untold Tales is definitely worth picking up. However, if you're like me, and enjoyed Blackest Night #8 in large part because it closed the book on the drawn-out, repetitive event, you're better off skipping the issue entirely. If anything, it will only serve as a reminder that commercially successful events never really end, they just go away until its time for the next money grab. Read Full Review

I don't think the book is worth buying for the content you get. Most of it is retreading relatively new stories that were just released in trade (don't get me started on DC's slow trade department). Only a handful of pages from the issue are really new material as well. Pick it up if you are an absolute Blackest Night junkie, but otherwise not worth it for what you get. Read Full Review
