What would readers expect and want from a Deathstroke comic? Kyle Higgins is delivering with each issue. There is plenty of insane action and violence. There is more here than simple mindless violence. The mystery of Deathstroke's long lost (and thought to be dead) son is something he's dealing with and we get to see a flashback that adds more to the characters. Joe Bennett is capturing the essence of the characters and goes all out when it comes to the scenes of violence. Hats off to both Higgins and Bennett for the final scene. It was definitely a pleasure and surprise to see. I've been enjoying DEATHSTROKE but I have to say this issue made me really enjoy the series. Sparse or not, Higgins doesn't neglect the characterization in this issue. He strikes a proper balance between maintaining Slade's mystique and showcasing just enough vulnerability for readers to sympathize with the character. There's plenty of big action, but this isn't a dumb book by any stretch. Read Full Review
The problem is how long it took this series to develop depth. Not only did almost all previous issues lack it, but this issue does not waste time giving us depth. But it does not come in large quantities. The pacing could be quickened slightly, but the direction this issue has taken is definitely a step in the right direction, if not as solid a step as the previous issue of Deathstroke's had taken. Avoid this issue if you want a lot of action and more than minimal (but well attempted) depth. Read Full Review
