Sebastian Clarkes endgame for the Court of Owls is unleashed upon Gotham City, with thousands of lives in the balance. How can Talon stand up and finally become the hero he never wanted to be?
Theres no doubt that Tynion is a good writer but here he shows the glimpses of a great one. He gets the mix of action, plot, and character just right to deliver an incredible and compelling issue that just may be his best work so far. Talon #13 pays off for long-time readers with a thoroughly captivating read that will leave you more excited for the next issue than anything else released this week. Read Full Review
While this story isn't going to be the finale of the book, it has that feel to it. With the way this issue progresses things, it feels as if the story will come to a natural conclusion next issue, rather than a "oh shit, we're cancelled, wrap everything up as quickly as you can!" vibe that many axed books in the New 52. Again, this book isn't cancelled (yet), but the you can tell that this chapter on Calvin is soon to close, and this issue should get fans of the character pretty excited for whatever happens in issue #14. Talon #13 was a solid issue builds things up for an epic conclusion that'll take place in the next issue. It has a few problems in the writing and a few more in the art department, but it is a pretty good time overall. I, and I hope the rest of you, look forward to finale on the horizon. Read Full Review

Next issue is Tynion's last one on the book and it looks like he'll be going out with a bang. This has been a pretty solid title with a new hero, but I'm wondering how long it will last and will be curious to see the direction this book goes in with the new creative team. Read Full Review
Although I clearly have my problems with what's been happening in the series lately I do think that this issue has a terrific energy and sense of purpose to it and is something that longtime readers should check out simply so that they can see Tynion's send off. I'm excited to see what Tynion has planned for his finale but this issue was definitely “just okay”for me as many of the elements felt quite familiar. I might be falling out of love with this series and I'm thinking about moving it back to the “Trade-wait Reviews Only” pile. Buy it if you've been reading from the start, skip it if you haven't.
