So now my mind has to do some work. Lara is still pregnant. Kara looks like she is around 12. So are we years away? Is Kal an infant or a toddler when he is sent away? And really ... does it matter? Overall I liked this issue and this series. It certainly kept some of the major elements of this well-trod intact while giving a sort of fresh angle of political unrest. While Zor-El and Kara's story feels a little unfinished, cutting out before the resolution, this is overall a fantastic mini. It's a great look at what people do when they know the time is running out, how some people allow it to destroy them and others allow it to motivate them. Venditti continues to be one of the most underrated Superman writers of the modern day, and I hope he gets to follow this up somehow. Read Full Review
The final few pages are certainly the best of this issue as they provide a moment that was inevitable in this specific story, but still bears the emotional heft as readers consider what sort of future they might offer their own children on Earth. Read Full Review
I'm not sure why this miniseries was published. Was much of anything gained from this series? What new insights did we gain, and were they worth it? I couldn't tell you.
