Given enough time, Weisman will have to give Demona a little more dramatic depth. Shes clearly a very formidable antagonist, but she IS somewhere near the center of the conflict, and shes going to need to show something of a sophisticated motivation behind what shes doing for the Here In Manhattan story to have a solid weight as it reaches its climax. Gargoyles #7 is a refreshing change of pace in the storyline, with less focus on the mobsters and the plight of the other gargoyles, and focusing instead on the malevolent machinations of Demona. This issue may serve as a way to tie into the upcoming spinoff comic, Gargoyles: Dark Ages, also written by Weisman. It is a touching tribute to series writer Michael Reaves, who passed away earlier this year. He wrote several episodes of the Gargoyles show as well as many episodes of Batman: the Animated Series. GARGOYLES #7 uses a clever trick to wrap up the Slaughter assassination through the eyes of a character who has yet to appear in the series, portending tough times ahead for the clan. Weismans clever narrative trick is executed well, and Kambadaiss art is improving. Read Full Review
