The art is pretty crisp with some amazing drawings and epic scenes. One thing that did bug me is his face shield off for part of the book but I know this has been the case in part of his history. Read Full Review
Guidi and Wycough's art was hit or miss for me throughout the issue. First the good: they did an excellent job when it came to the transformers themselves. I've continually been impressed with artists over the years that can get even some detail into these machines and this is the case in this issue. Each transformer is distinct enough from each other that I was able to remember their names throughout. The not so good, however, involves the human characters. For the most part, Faireforne, Action man and Mayday looked okay, but at times it seemed like the artists ran out of time drawing their faces. They sometimes felt "off". Read Full Review
Despite the odd timing of the issue's release,Optimus Prime: First Strikeis a good and entertaining issue, though Barber doesn't really explore any new topics or ways to look at Prime's viewpoint. The rehash of the importance of this event is somewhat diminished since we've heard so much about it before, but it leaves it open at an interesting place to see what happened with the Revolutionaries and Arcee in the upcomingTransformers: First Strike one-shot. Hasbro/IDW are still trying to make Action Man a thing, lol, that's adorable. I can't see any reason why this issue needs to exist.
I'm not sure who Centurion is, but he seems to be from one of the steam-punk style transformers from years back.
