This one-shot serves as a heartfelt tribute to the late Nichelle Nichols, whose portrayal of Nyota Uhura in Star Trek was a defining moment in television history. At a time when representation on screen was limited and often fraught, Uhura stood as a symbol of dignity, intelligence and possibility. Read Full Review

Star Trek Deviations: Threads of Destiny is not only an outstanding story from the Star Trek universe, but also an impactful tale that is deep and meaningful. It’s another one of those comics that you don’t need a lot of history of Star Trek to get something out of the comic. Read Full Review

I absolutely love the art in this issue. It is brilliantly detailed and visually exciting. What I love the most is its old school style and feel. Everything looks amazing and the issue has a wonderful newsprint style feel to the visuals. Read Full Review

Star Trek Deviations: Threads of Destiny #1 is a one-shot that highlights the importance of racial equality, but could stand to be a longer book. Despite its length, it’s well worth a read. Read Full Review

Lt. Uhura travels back to the 1960s to teach us about the civil rights movement. The story is a poignant one, but it lacks real drama and feels like a bit of a retread. Still, the visuals are period-appropriate and showcase a familiar cast of characters. Read Full Review

This is a complete piece of garbage. Stephanie Philips swooping in to be a white savior. I knew Nichelle very well and this is what she reduces her to an activist. She obviously doesn't even know anything about Trek because there is an episode where Uhura meets Lincoln and she openly says that racism is a thing of the past. Yet here she goes on about being reminded that she is a black woman and her troubles in being one. I, of course, bought this because Nichelle was on the cover. After reading it, I wanted nothing more than rip it up. She was an amazing woman who helped hire minorities for NASA, championed the first interractial kiss, and was almost laughing. This is how you honor her memory. She devered so much more. Stephanie PHillip more
