Overall, issue two delivers what I hoped for after my issue one review: quips, callbacks, quality interactions and a compelling battle of greatest minds in Star Trek. Four classic crews are mixed up to compete in a mission for the omnipotent characters and it's great reading. The characters' are absolutely faithful to their television and film personas. The dialogue is killer. The visuals are some of the best in the history of Star Trek comics. The characters and settings are pure Trek. With a vast cast of characters The Q Conflict has the potential for greatness. Unfortunately, this second issue does not build on the concepts of the first issue and the story just doesn't pick up speed. Great Art fills the pages but it has no story to tell. Read Full Review
The mixing of crewmembers hurts the series on a conceptual level -- crew vs. crew was more interesting than pitting semi-random assortments of Starfleet officers against each other -- but also on a practical level since most of the characters have no established chemistry with their teammates.
