The human-orc alliance is tested for the first time as an underwhelming harvest causes the orcs to look toward the fertile farmland of humankind. Will Troth be able to persuade his brethren to stand strong alongside their new allies? Or will the truce break before it really begins? Whether these warring nations are able to work out their problems or not, one thing remains: the Vangol are more organized than anyone could have imagined... and they are on their way.
Wildgoose offers some beautifully detailed and visually impressive art throughout the issue. I love not only the character and creature designs, but also the beautiful landscapes and backgrounds. Read Full Review

Catching up on The Hunger and The Dusk is the best decision I made this week and issue #4 only confirms that the best is still to come in this outstanding new series from IDW. Read Full Review
G. Willow Wilson and Christian Wildgoose deliver another captivating entry in this surprise-hit, post-apocalyptic fantasy series. This issue masterfully balances moments of quiet introspection with character development, offering a direct look into who these characters have become. Wilson deftly navigates the complex political landscape and interpersonal relationships of the human and orc communities. The dialogue is sharp and insightful, revealing inner struggles and motivations. This continues to be one of my favorite books of 2023.
A really well-written issue. I thought Wilson handled the conflict between the orcs well, with the two differing sides debating whether or not to honor the treaty between them and the humans. Everything else here was super interesting as well. I enjoyed how Tara was written here and I also found the pages with the Vangol intriguing. Throughout the issue as a whole, it feels like big things are ahead and I'm really excited for it.
This book would be stellar if it weren't delayed as much. The longer (near-2-month) wait between each issue is what lowers my rating.
