The sky-scorching, action-packed finale! Cliff is behind enemy lines and face-to-face with a full flying complement of Nazi Rocketmen! As if this wasn't bad enough, he, along with Peevy and Betty, have to spoil the Nazi's last dirty trick-an AMERIKABOMBER, a prototype long-range transport, equipped and crammed with a squadron of enhanced Rocketmen, each armed with miniature rocket-propelled bombs... targeting New York!
Stephen Mooney does a solid job of bringing Den of Thieves to a satisfying conclusion and manages to give a bit of character growth to Cliff and Betty as we see them on a more equal footing. Overall this is a great ending for the story, but also a great foundation to build future adventures on. Read Full Review
Messinas art is powerful, beautifully detailed and dynamic. The action is cinematic in every possible way and drew me into every suspense filled moment. Read Full Review
The Rocketeer: In the Den of Thieves has been a fun series to read, but issue #4, like the previous one, spends a lot of its real estate just adding some window dressing that doesn't push things along. Read Full Review
This is an action-packed ending with a bunch of plot holes. It would have been better if the Nazi Rocketeers were hiding in a secret compartment aboard Cliff's plane instead of following him. The writer has no idea how restricted air space works, especially during war time. They would have been shot down. Cliff would have been able to talk his way out of it, but a pilot with a German accent, probably not. Then Betty someone changes clothes and gets her own jet pack within seconds. That was weird. Also, they were heading to California, but ended up in NY. Not sure how that happened. Other than these pitfalls, the action was good and I enjoyed the character interactions.
